I know this is a random thread but I thought it would be a good idea with the 'cost of greed' crisis.

One of the things that has saved me and my partner money is Hello Fresh. It stops us going to Asda/Tesco etc as much and therefore spending money we don't need too.

Another one is we now get a our milk delivered my McQueens. Again it stops nipping out for milk and buying unnecessary things that just catch your eye.

Popping to the supermarket for milk doesn't end there .
I went for milk once and ended up spending over £40

I’ve set up a Save the Change on my bank account. It rounds up each transaction and then a daily transfer goes to a savings account. Over the course of 3 months it has saved about £150 - obviously it depends on your level of spending but will have a nice amount at the end of the year I hope.

I regularly stock check what’s in the fridge and as things approach their use by dates they get lobbed in the slow cooker on batch cook Sunday. Freeze the results and have them during the week for luncheon.

I’ve become a dab hand at it.

My brother in law positively turns his nose up at the idea and has made disparaging comments before but I just hate throwing food in the bin.

We did Gusto for a while and it was actually really good, made us think more about meals and cook properly. Problem was after early offers it became really expensive, you could easily buy the stuff from a supermarket for much less.

In the Hull area I'd say Gulf at Long Riston is the cheapest , not sure about actually in Hull

True story.

My mate at work once consumed a tin of soup that was 8 years out of date.

He’d found it in his parents cupboard and brought it in to work for his dinner. Watched him eat it, said it tasted no different.

I do the same although rarely batch cook, but freeze a lot.

60 sausages, 28 burgers and 13 kebabs in there currently.

Needless to say I’m looking forward to my next bbq.

We have different accounts for different bills coming out, we put money in every pay day, whether anything is due out or not. One for car account, one house account, where any house related bills come out including mortgage, anything leftover in our personal accounts goes into our individual personal savings accounts.
Yes we have about 6 accounts that we’ve set up over the years, but it really helps to see what money you have to play with each month.

Check out the special offers, buy bigger/more it's cheaper stuff that doesn't go bad of course. Some cheaper brands/supermarket brands are exactly the same as the big brands, you will need to experiment to find what works for you.

Best thing I ever did was buy a multi cooker and an air fryer, food tastes better, I batch cook like Carmine.

Avoid Sewells Garages then. Filled up this week at Asda on Kingswood, 11p a litre cheaper than the same petrol at Sewells in Cottingham and on Chanterlands Avenue. I've seen petrol cheaper at remore filling stations in North Yorkshire, with no competition for miles around than Sewells charge in the Hull area.
Also dont buy coffee from Starbucks. I'm still tramautised after being charged over £16 for four at a Starbucks at the Pocklington turn off. Tastes like mud too, and its not waitress service.

Batch cooking is definitely the way to go... I have a soup maker and its amazing what concoctions you can come up with, half jars of spaghetti Bol, mixed with half jars of curry sauce, tomatoes and pasta etc...
