Someone asked him who the most inspirational person has been to him in football... His answer: David Connolly Someone asked why he hadn't yet left Saints... His answer: Coz Saints are asking too much for a player that doesn't play... That was it really
I was reading them live. There a a few more of some Saints interest. *Why did you leave Saints: Not wanted *Your worst moment in football: Playing for Saints vs Rochdale at St Marys *Why didn't you sign for Millwall: Bid was never accepted *Why didn't you sign for Blackpool: They didn't pay the money Saints wanted *One word to describe Chamberlain: Humble *Best player outside of the Premiership: Lallana *Is hapiness or money most important: The QPR move wasn't about money. I took a pay cut to go there, or Saints wouldn't let me go.
Who knows. Maybe it was a case of QPR were only willing to pay X% of his salary, but Cortese was refusing to to pay the remainder. So to go to QPR, Puncheon had to agree to forgo that remainder (until the loan is up, and he returns to us). I've got no evidence at all to back this up, just a suggestion.
Can someone ask how his relationship with NA is? Technically, he's on a par with some of the others and could be valuable if he's willing to work hard when his loan runs out. if NA doesn't want him and he doesn't want to be here, we should just take what we're offered and be done with it.
He is a good player and I would welcome him back, can't really see it happening for all of the hoohah backstage though.
It's not his place to answer this question and I feel that he is treading on thin ice with this comment. It may be true, but if the The Don reads this, he will not be pleased at all.
Frankly, he just isn`t that good. In 15 games or so in League 1 last year, I don`t think he managed a goal - poor for an attcking midfield player, unlike Lala and Chappers for example. Puncheon gets dropped, on comes Oxo and starts scoring, and the rest is history, and a build of momentum to promotion. Where has he ever really pulled up trees ?
Well he got into the L1 team of year in 09-10. Granted yes, it was only L1, but he still got named - something which Lallana didn't. And whilst his performances were under-par at the start of last season, almost every player goes through a bad spell every now and then. Unlike many players though, Puncheon also had to cope with disgusting abuse from crowd during that spell - not exactly the sort of atmosphere you want when you're trying to come out of the other side of a bad patch.
Fair comment, abuse doesn`t motivate anyone. But what was the catalyst for the abuse ?? I didn`t notice it tbh the last time I saw him, v Tranny Rovers at SMS last October.
He was booed against Rochdale which is probably why in the Q and A, he said it was his worst experience so far in football.
Plus he's the only player that i've ever seen that's hit the top of the stand at st marys from inside the 18 yard box.
