Suffolk, I think you'll find that Hanley and Gibson were the first choice pairing at the start of the EPL campaign. Then we switched to a back three of Kabak, Hanley and Gibson. Omo only made two appearances during that early period. He replaced Gibson when the latter was suspended for one game after his double booking against Chelsea, and he played in the win against Brentford, but in a back four, paired with Gibson, not in place of Gibson. Going by that season's Wiki, he only made two other starts, plus one appearance as a sub, before the back injury put him out for the rest of the season.
I think we all hoped that last season would be his break through season. I can remember posting, with an eye on the future, that he and (the left-footed) Gibson should be our first choice pairing ..........
Jeez I forgot all about Kabak! He could have been decent. I forgot we experimented with a back 3 as well! Fair enough Robbie I will bow to your superior memory. I just remember Omobamidele scoring a header against Leeds

Sorry to say, it owed very little to my memory ......... ;)

The BBC are reporting that Leeds have now re-signed Sam Byram, on a one-year contract. After all he's been through in terms of injuries, I'm happy for him and hope he gets through the season unscathed.

Sam Byram is a lot better player than many gave him credit for and could also give cover for 2 or 3 positions. If - and unfortunately it is a big if - he stays injury free we could regret letting him go.

Agree, a quality player.
Injuries have wrecked his career

Tzolis loaned out.

McCallum being linked with a move to Swansea. I guess that one depends on whether there's a few attached.

Weird that Tzolis wasn't given a chance this season, his contract expires next June so the €11m we spent on him will have been completely wasted after his loan expires .

Hopefully we get something back from Rashica from the €11m we blew on him as he's contracted until June 2025.

Swansea being linked with McCallum again. Not sure I can see that happening unless he's replaced, or Aarons is going to end up staying?

Letting Mumba, McCallum and Aarons go would not make much sense to me - can't be that desperate for cash and a reduction in the wage bill can they? If a replacement has been lined up it would take time for him to settle in and a injury to another wing back on Wednesday would cause panic.

This may not assuage your concerns 1950 but, from what DW has said, it appears Placheta is increasingly seen as a viable option at LB/LWB.
PS Our Carabao Cup match against QPR is a week on Wednesday. Our next match is the Southampton game on Saturday.

I agree that Byram is an excellent player when fit, but his strengths don't fit with DW's tactics. Stacey was recruited for this difference and Fisher forged ahead into the first team for the same reason at Mumba's expense. Byram would be Wagner's third choice RB even if Aarons leaves, fourth if he stays.

Aarons: a sideways move in Championship. Perhaps Leeds are better placed to return to EPL than NCFC? No mention of fee, but it may be enough to secure the services of a decent striker as with the Finland lad.

Rumours on the FB NCFC page is upto £12m, based on circa £9/10m + addons. Suggest that's fair based on 10 month contract
