So as things stand. Front line gets injured... We'll manage. Trent or a CB gets injured... We'll struggle. Either of our new midfielders injured... We'll struggle significantly. Ahmed gets injured... We're Doomed. I think our first XI is fine... But a single injury outside our frontline would cause a lot of problems.
he's excellent in the air and has a solid tackle - but his passing is barely okay, and his composure on the ball playing out from the back is Championship level at best. As I say, Leeds would be getting a better deal for Phillips than West Ham are getting. Hope I'm not saying that out of spite either. You really have to play old-fashioned 2 blocks of 4 to get the best out of Maguire, or even, as you say, 4-2-3-1 with two DM's, and 2 big ugly centre back-type DM's at that.
I think he can do a job in the right setup (and that's why Southgate likes him but I'm not going there) but his confidence (on the pitch ) is shot imo
We're certainly not new to this situation although I think it's a little worse than normal. The title winning season we didn't have too many injuries, or that could have ended very different. It's what worries me about Lavia though... He will be expected to play every game because even with him we have little cover... he may be good enough to play every game, but I don't want to cripple the lad in his growing years.
Indeed - look at Batejic. Fab was in his mid-20s when he got him, and he was frequently injured too. That no 6 role is hard physically to play, needing endurance and strength in spades. Ideal for 400m runners, which is the hardest of all track disciplines IMO.
they know it as we've gone back in 3 times (according to them most likely) If we have really done that then it strongly suggests we really don't have a plan B Incidentally the flumenise (sp?) team won last night so that guy is off the table til january.
honestly we also over played fabinho AND played him injured at cb etc. I think we put a few too many issues into him more than just running about covering trent.
It doesn't necessarily mean there's no plan B - it could be that plan A hasn't yet been abandoned. I'm not saying that that is the case, just pointing out a flaw in your logic.
We can't have two of equal quality in every position, so injuries are bound to cause more problems in some areas than in others. Which is why versatile players are always a good idea.
i don't think thats really fair. Ox: 0.3 of a player at best Keita: 0.2? Milner yes his loss is a lot of flexibility but again injured a lot at times so 0.75 Fabinho: yes a loss but could be blessing for us Henderson: **** him and **** mane tow the pair of sportwashing gimps Arthur: come on Carvalho: never played at best 0.25 of a player for goal v Newcastle! Firmino out. we have 5 senior forward of talent plus doak. lets be fair and knock this out out. I'd call that about 4 players really lost. we bought 2 in. we are trying for no 3. My view is simply that 7 sort of midfielders really actually boils down to 3 in milner, henderson and fabinho and they should have been replaced a year ago. I'm more than happy that we have a couple young lads who can contibute more than unfit **** like arthur, ox and keita could do. I wish we had culled the herd over the past 2 seasons to not be 5th and in europa but them's the breaks. Right now if pushed I'm more concerned with our systems and team shape than us not being finished buying yet. Midfield: I happen to really think bajectic is good. Lavia added would be a very young pairing for no 6 slot. I think macallister and jones at LCM is good I think everyone will love szoboszlai over time. I still think Elliott is not a cm but he is the option there. Thiago might or might not stay the year. morton probably wont go on loan til january so is an option ( he's not bad) Clark is a bit inexperienced so he's one to wait for McConnell has put hismefl forward as a young lad who will want a loan its terrible to have 6 really cheap players like bajcetic, jones, elliott, morton, clark and mcconnell what i beleive is less than 6 million pounds total. The other 3 represent 110million investment
Which has been Klopp's stance since day one; he openly said he doesn't like having multiple plans, he rather perfect the preferred plan
