Exactly. If I wanted success and a football manager style "team to build up in Europe", I'd buy a club in a smaller league and make them dominate domestically. Like TNS, or Linfield, or KI Klaksvik. Then you just bank the money from playing in the qualifying rounds until you build a strong enough team to reach a group stage competition. Even in the Europa Conference League, you get just under €3m for reaching the group stage, and then €500,000 per win and €160,000 for a draw. The Champions League sees you get €5m for reaching the playoff round, €15m for reaching the group stage alone, and then €2.8m for every win. €900,000 for every draw. Where do you think Acun, as a businessman, will see his money back quicker? Tens of millions spent on Hull City, or a few million on Shelbourne?
Acun wants the Premier league. Getting to the qualifying rounds of europe gets you nowt in comparison.
