Not an issue, as we can realign the squad after the next 2 games (assuming we are still in it). Carroll out - VDV in. Not a bad swap?
Modric signed an unprecedented 6yr deal, and thats what some people failed to acknowledge at the time over his valuation, so waiting for him to get down to 1or 2 yrs is fine by me.
The buyout clauses can't really determine how much a club would sell their player for, it's more an insurance policy should anyone become interested they couldn't poach 'em for peanuts so to speak, even youngsters who sign their first contracts out there have like a £10m fee inserted straight away yet I'm sure they'd be available for half the price if the club was looking/ willing to sell, agree though that on the current market Fabregas is probably a £60m player. In regards to another year on Modric's contract to run down, he's got until 2016 so it's fair to say we can wait another 3 years atleast before deciding whether that £40m is looking more acceptable.
I wouldn't go that far Lidls, but I'm sure he's aware of the reasons why it happened, now. He should've been told at the time, in my opinion, but I don't think that any damage was done.
Interestingly the DM is calling Barcelona's interest in Bale and Real Madrid's alleged interest in Wilshere "...unsettling, underhand Spanish transfer tactics..." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...anish-Gareth-Bale-Jack-Wilshere-welcomed.html Funny they didn't say the same thing about Chelsea's pursuit if Modric over the summer.........
Actually, Rosell has backed himself into a corner. By saying that Bale is not worth £35mm. He has, wittingly, or unwittingly, ensured that he has no chance of signing him. Levy would consider £35mm to be an insult, anyway. But, of course, as Barca don't think he's even worth that - end of story.
I know he's no spring chicken but am I wrong to think that when I watch VDV,he looks rather shagged out a lot of the time. This is got to be the reason Harry subs him a lot....whether he likes it or not!
The Mail were also getting paid by said Russian. How dare the dirty Spaniard go about unsettling a player without the Mail's help!
Barca are foreign, Chelsea aren't. Well, apart from their owner, the money going into the club, every manager since 1996 and 76% of their current squad...
Yeah, like a club with Chelsea's deep pockets can buy anybody they like......no wait a minute. We have no need to sell Bale and if we get Champions League football, he has no reason to go. He is part of the best midfield in the country right now and he is still young, he has plenty of time for foreign adventures. Sorry pal, you will have to dream up some other way of finishing above us, it won't be because we sell our best players.
