I think there's a lazy assumption from some fans of newly relegated fans that it will be a clean sweep, rebuild and straight back up to the PL.

But there's a big gap between the Championship standard and PL and as history has shown, some big clubs like Sheff Weds, Leeds, Nott'm Forest, Newcastle have languished in the lower leagues for a number of years before gaining promotion.

There's truth there though we've been relegated twice in my lifetime and won the league at the first attempt both times. Not sure that counts as languishing.
