Afternoon guys and girls, charlton fan here, come in piece.

I am currently writing a piece about Owen and would just like to get some of your thoughts about him.

Both as a player at his peek and your memories of him when he played for you guys.

Thanks for your time and good luck for the rest of the season.

Not sure if you will be able to print what the majority in here think of him.

No loyalty. Loves his horses more than himself (which is saying something). Crap captain who wasn't worth the money.

Worst transfer we've made ever (and there has been a few bad ones).

He would marry a horse if it wasn't frowned upon.

Greedy mercenary, who the fans got behind and then when we were struggling didn't care, not to mention the fact he is always injured. Did have good games for Keegan and Souness who he liked as a kid, didn't care as much when Allardyce, Roeder and Kinnear were in charge.

Hope you're not expecting many positives.

Injuries are injuries, to an extend he can't be held to blame for these. I think you'll find the biggest gripe we all have is the manner in which he left our club.

He was the club captain when we got relegated, but looked completely dis-interested towards the end of our relegation season. His heart wasn't in it and he didn't seem to care. But even that isn't the worst bit in my opinion.

What is unforgivable is that when we went down, when he was club captain, he left without saying a word to the fans. He was on his helicopter and out of there and didn't look back. He didn't care about the fans, the fact that he'd picked up £110,000 p/w for countless years - he didn't have the self-respect to come out and say anything. That's what get's to me the most.

Good in spells (notably the far too brief partnership with Shearer, and the number 10 behind Martins and Viduka that should have seen him back in the England squad), but injured far too often and hindered by a lack of service late on, that coupled with a few misses he'd usually put away saw us relegated.

The club owes him a deep debt of gratitude for helping advance medical science during his time with us. If he'd signed another contract with us I've no doubt that the citizens of the world would now be living without fear of catching the common cold.

Just having a wing of the medical centre named in his honour is not enough. Sure his gold plated physio table is still on display and the annual pilgrimage to worship it is still popular as ever but there must be other ways for us to truly honour his valiant and non-selfish deeds.

In all honesty his time at Newcastle was a travesty. When he wasn’t injured under Allardyce he was bouncing off 6 ft defenders trying to cope with hoofball tactics and then he’d invariably be injured again.

He did have miraculous powers of recovery whenever an England call up was on the horizon but couldn’t string together enough games for us.

    To sum it up: disappointing.

He couldn't possibly be further up his own arse if he tried.

As other people have said it's all in the way he left the club.

It's the reason why players like Nolan will get a great reception when they come back compared to players like Carroll etc.

Not sure Nolan will get a great reception.

No boos but no cheers either if you ask me.

Got to admire the sheer audacity of including the words 'Fit and Healthy' in the brochure.
