Missed the first 2 days at Goodwood. How on earth was Quickthorn allowed to go off at 16/1 I'll have a stab at Day 3 for fun 13;50 Perfuse should get us off to a good start at 5/2 but on heavy ground that doesn't look particularly good value to me, He has won on it but no idea if he is suited by it any more than some of the others 14.25 This looks to be between Vandeek and Sketch, with slight preference for the former, 625,000 gns breeze-up and will come on a bundle from his first run. Both entered in the G2 Mill Reef Stakes but the fact Vandeek has won on soft and is also entered in the Champagne over 7f makes me wonder if the stamina test might suit him better. But, at the prices I think I will plump for the (effectively) 2 time winner Ballymount Boy at 8/1, 9's available
Cont 15.00 Can't be having Espionage at 6/4. Rather be ew on Desert Hero at 5s. Has won on soft and heavy and battled on well to win (in pretty fast time) when stepped up to 12f 15.35 Nashwa ran well in very soft on Arc day (I was there and it was a fantastic day) but she was caught late on by Place Du Carrousel, in what was a significant reversal of their earlier meeting on a better surface. Therefore I think she will be no match for the mud loving (unbeaten on soft and softer) Blue Rose Cen who appears to be the banker of the day, especially at 10/11 16.10 Gray's Inn is an improving sort but I prefer (at the prices) Doddie's Impact ew at 9/1. Pushed out to win in heavy ground on debut, in a Class 2, before being beaten 5L on good ground (in a Class 4) by Spanish Blaze who, on debut, was in rear and ran green throughout when last of 10, beaten 13¾l, behind impressive Ascot winner Rosallion. Clearly, Doddie's Impact prefers the heavy ground and gets that tomorrow 16.45 Have no interest in this race 17.20 Based on her Ascot run behind Sacred Angel, Ornellaia can't be opposed at 5/2, provided she acts on the ground 17.55 No interest at all Good luck all. I'm sure one of you will come up with a nice priced winner
In the Class-5 Handicap Chase at Stratford (16:50) over an extended 2m3f, the September Storm gelding, Atlantic Storm, has a squeak. Getting a bit long in the tooth nowadays, but has the form to run a decent race. Cillin Leonard (5) on board for the Rob Summers yard. 9/1 (Wm.Hill/Unibet) topt price at time of writing. E/W best option.
Workmanlike win from Desert Hero. Didn't appear to appreciate the going that much. At least he's going the right way as he had to improve to win that.
Ran well, but second again, no chance with winning favourite who won easily. However, the e/w shows a small profit.
