Howe seemed to think Matt Targett was worth £100k p/w. So maybe they won't buy a left back. Or be able to.

I mean, last Summer I was convinced we were at least two key players short of a decent season - we know how that ended up. So whilst I'm underwhelmed with two signings - though both are top players - I'll have to trust in Howe to know what he's doing, right?!

I just think we should use the platform; what good is a CL qualifying season, if the following year we exit at group stage and finish 8th? There's an argument that would suggest we could spend bigger next Summer, regardless, because of the FFP restrictions I suppose. All a balancing act.
We could easy bomb out the cl at the group stages. I would, if it was me. Bank the money get the experience move on and take the league cup and FA cup seriously

Yes, upgrade to right CB first. Then LB. Don't think RW will happen, although if he signs then Livramento can apparently play well there.

Think I'm more LB first, then RCB. Burn's got more mistakes in him and less contribution than Schar. Burn's good cover for Botman so I'd want him fresh just in case. Targett's reasonable backup. Just need a proper, decent LB. Even if we buy RCB, I doubt Howe would start them.

RW won't happen - he's happy with Almiron, Murphy and the flexibility of Gordon plus we have Minteh playing CL football this year to develop.

Probably need better at RB than Ashby/Manq as well, with Krafth both out til Xmas and crap. Livramento.a good shout here, but I imagine they're weighing up whether Ashby can make it.

Think Ashby is away to Swansea

I'll put it out - our defence is actually pretty good. Can anyone confirm/ deny that we had our tightest defence in our post KK era last season? Must be best or near best. The biggest concern of the ability of last year's defence was their ability to shift the ball into searing attacks quickly.

I do worry though that injuries can screw up the job. If Botman /Schar / Pope/ Trippier are out we might be in trouble. That applies to everyone's best team I accept.

A pacy left back and centre back would be very welcome, even if they're under 21.

But IMO we're stronger than last season. In my head Barnes will score 10+ and Tonali will help get us possession and forward passes.

It's the CL demands which might strain the squad.
I'm hoping that us, Brighton and Villa will really shake up the top eight. And I'd laugh my head off if Kane goes to Bayern or PSG.

Heffernan and Zefi due to sign. Also signed Milan’s team manager as some sort of personal team member of Tonali to help him settle.
