I'd put it more like Will real buy mbappe and then who needs to be shifted. I don't see any reason for brighton to want to sell caicedo on the last day if they resist to that time. They have the contract length as the boy is an idiot. I am not so sure we want 2 CMs at this point or really want a CM and CB. Currently I do think his no 1 line up has a box midfield with trent moving in beside SOMEONE and szoboszlai and macallister up the park causing utter mayhem. I think he will be happier that he has jones playing ok to cover LCM and elliott for RCM but he really then is looking at thiaog, bajectic and morton as odds and ends. My view would be when thaigo goes then a CM becomes his next thing IF bajcetic isn't in his thoughts. Currently the CB situation is scary. Konate is a bit of an injury concern. gomez scares me, his confidence is gone. Matip is shot through so IMO the really obvious issue is CB AND if he buys a LCB then he's got that option you love of dropping robertson to make this a proper 3223. IF I were klopp then I'd be thinking cover that off and focus on the two major comps. theres a great excuse this year to play kids all over the domestic cups and peoepl will buy it. Look at the line up he might have (given he needs b list players for europa as well) Quansah, Bradley, Chambers, Koumetio, Clark, Doak,Bajectic, Morton, Mcconnel, Scanlon, Koumas, Cannonier, Frauendorf, Gordon, Mrozek. Theres barely a reason play a senior player bar to give a run out to gomez and kelleher. If the decision is to spend it all on Lavia now then my big worry is CB. I really don't think we have that covered.
I reckon let them keep him and shrug. they can get by on the 20mil for ward prowse until the parachute payments run out. I'm sure arsenal will be happy to put him on their u21s for 50mil until partey gets arrested again
As long as we have a back-up in place (or three) before the season starts. We play Chelsea away in 11 days time - I hope we're not going to do the usual FSG dick-around of playing brinkmanship right till the end of the window, get nobody, sigh and walk away and say "Ah well, we just couldn't get our targets at the the price we budgeted for" with £400m of FFP wiggle room still in our favour that we don't use.
38mil net spend total today. no problems here. Jones is a great no 6 and bajcetic is coming. why I can't even imagine why anyone would want lavia (insert relevant smiley here)
Chelsea and United are in the running now as well, especially if Amrabat goes to Saudi Arabia and Caiceido is forced to stay at Brighton. I don't think Liverpool are serious, tbh. Pretty certain FSG are done spending for this window, tbh. Should have known it was all bullshit when their client journos were wintering about a "£250m war chest".
It’s the worst window to buy a midfielder. £110m for Rice has set the benchmark and ****ed it up for everyone else…..now a 19 year old with 6 months of experience and a lot of potential is worth just less of half of what Rice went for and Caicedo around 90% of Rices value…..which is fair enough I guess. The issue is the Rice number tbh.
Liverpool adamant on not bidding full £50m for Lavia. Already exploring other options - Andre from Fluminese at £20m. - P Joyce.
I don't believe any of this stuff one way or another - none of us know what's going on, including all the journos pulling numbers out of their arses. Wait and see...
that is a classic friendly journalist primed to tell the world and southampton in particular that they need to start thinking now whether they can get the fee from us OR if they can tell us to do one and someone else will pay it within the month. some clubs say no no no.. oh god here's the full fee and 10% on top. (man utd and chelsea) and others actually won't just be that stupid.
I know you can't resist a dig, but I don't see that this has much, if anything, to do with the owners. By and large they leave the club to run itself, so if the money is there then it's down to others ( Klopp, Schmadtke etc) to decide on where to spend it. If the money isn't there then the whole argument is moot.
