Phew what a series. Shame about the Manchester weather but I think 2-2 is about right. England maybe just edged it overall. But to come back from 2-0 down against a top Aussie team in the way we did should not be underestimated.
Incredible series, such a shame the rain denied us the series win but it is undoubtedly a win for test cricket. The level of entertainment throughout was brilliant.
Really pleased Woakes got some recognition , he’s been great and should be a vital member of this team going forwards
To add to the fairy tale ending to Stuart Broad’s fantastic career, it shouldn’t be forgotten that his last wicket with his last ball was Alex Carey, caught by Johnny Bairstow. That kind of redresses the balance for Lords, almost.
Looking at the two line ups, Middlesex should trounce us today. We've got a very youthful bowling attack.
Hampshire Fletcha Middleton. Nick Gubbins(c). Tom Prest. Ben Brown(wk). Toby Albert. Felix Organ. Ian Holland. Joseph Eckland. Scott Currie Dom Kelly. Eddie Jack
As you say, almost. It's a pity that some of the normally accepted norms of conduct within the game have gone it seems, both sides need to take a look at this.
I see all the Aussies are whining that when the ball was replaced on Sunday evening due to being knocked out of shape, the umpires chose a "newer looking" ball. Ponting had a rant, now McGrath and the Aussie papers are full of rage. Funny that, after the Bairstow/Carey incident they were telling us top stop whining. ****ing hypocrites.
Great test series. Whatever the final result every match was worth watching. If it hadn’t rained on match 4 we’d have won the Ashes, but no point moaning because thems the rules and no doubt we’ve been rescued by rain before now. I’m basking in the idea we won it morally or perhaps in another universe
