Brilliant summary Ron, looks like we are covered in all areas for the first team. Maybe just a few rough diamonds for the development squad and we are sorted, nice to have it settled with over 2 weeks to go.

Must admit, I’ve never heard of some of those released players.

I’d say Gape, Horgan, Wing, Thompson and Obita would have been on high if not championship wages. With them off the books we have seemingly replaced with more 1st teamers, great business.

It is a bit worrying though that, out of a squad of 29 we have 26 out of contract by the end of this season. How much will they care if we don't get promoted?

Don’t know if you listened to Rob Couhig’ interview posted recently on socials?
Basically this is probably the last chance saloon in terms of team investment. If we don’t achieve promotion there will be serious playing budgets cuts next season. Possibly therefore a plan to have so many that we can cut ties with for every outcome. Plan A we achieve promotion and pick the cream for the championship. Plan B, we offload the high earners without offering extensions etc

No I haven't heard the interview but I gather Rob has an exit plan and could sell up within 2 years. Unless we are all pleasantly surprised and get promoted, I see us in a not very comfortable position of no players, no budget to get players needed to achieve promotion, leading to inferior squad with more chance of relegation than promotion - and Rob trying to sell up; but to who? Will be a very unsettling period with a lot of disgruntled fans. This might be why GA decided to go while he could; although that has a look of "out of the frying pan into the fire" about it

I hate pessimism but I'm just trying to manage my expectations if promotion starts to look unachievable this year

In the meantime I am very optimistic for the time being. Great signings giving us the best chance of promotion we could have hoped for

Let's be honest Ron a lot of clubs have spells where they do well then it falls apart for whatever reason we have had a brillant ten years or so, do I think we are a Championship club sorry to say no, it will always come back to the size of the crowd, when you look at last Saturday 3,000 I think was mentioned there must have been 200 or 300 hundred from Cardiff. I do think Rob & Pete have been good for the club. When you look at a couple of clubs in league 1 one already had a pts deduction & another one on a transfer embargo where the manager said on our local news we have signed four players before the embargo but need another ten (& one of them on a three contract which is why he went). As you say I think Ainsworth will need a miracle to keep QPR out of league 1. What will be interesting to see will be how Plymouth get on in the Championship, Ipswich have experience of the league while it's a while since Plymouth were that high.

One of the players that Wanderers are interested in signing is Richard Kone.

The Ivorian striker has featured in several of Wycombe’s pre-season games and scored in the club’s 2-1 victory over Aldershot Town on July 22, seconds after coming on as a second-half substitute.

When asked if any more new faces could join Wycombe this transfer window, the 39-year-old said: “Hopefully.

“We’re still working behind the scenes as there could be another one at some point or two tops.
