    Since then:
    Genk 3 goals (18 games)
    Troyes 7 goals (39)
Cardiff C 0 goals in pre season to date

    City need a proven striker.

That looks like 39 goals in total. Not bad for a player who can`t score.

It is very simple to ask for a striker without naming anyone. Who is going to loan us a 20 goal a season striker on loan>.Obviously those asking for a striker must have a few names, unless we are looking for an invisible striker with no name.

No one is asking for a 20+ goal striker. Statistically, they don't get you promoted. I highlighted that up-thread.
1 in 3, 1 in 4 would be acceptable. You are saying Ugbo is a goal scoring striker with 1 in 6. You'd hope for that from an attacking mid-fielder.

I asked for names of these unamed strikers we can get, for all I know they could be worse than Ugbo. Give me names of these strikers you want.

Why do you keep moving the goal posts from the topic discussed?
    I'll propose names.
Will you defend Ugbo's record given the facts, not opinions, that his ratios are poor, despite you saying he's a goal scorer.
1 in 6 is not good for an out and out striker.
That's less than 8 a season over 46 league games.
We've had centre backs get 5 or 6.
Off you go, defend the indefensible.
Or go to the 'other board', find out what they think, then repeat it here.

I only asked you to name this striker you say we need, this is the third time I`ve asked. I have not had any bad replies on the other forum. By the way who scored more than 8 goals last season, if everyone of the forwards score 8 and the defence hold we will be fine.

I am in the middle of doing a painting of a set of drums and with 7 cymbals and 7 drums plus all the stands I take a lot of coffee breaks.Well we scored 2 against Swansea and lost 3-2 and we scored against Wigan and drew 1-1 so that tells you where the real problem is.

There were lots got over 8 last year, but lets assume you're talking about cardiff players.
Sory Kaba got 8 in 17 games. Thats over 20 in a 46 game season. Almost 1 in 2.
Robinson got 7 in 23 games, so 14 for a 46 game season. Better than 1 in 3.

Putting names aside, anyone with a goal every 3 or 4 games at championship level or equivalent is what is being discussed as our requirements.

    Ok. Now you.
Why do you think a 1 in 6 striker, Ugbo, is the answer to our needs?
You say he's a goal scorer. Say why.
    I've set out my parameters.

    “Statistics damn lies and statistics.”

Obviously Ugbo needs to be judged by his goal scoring (from open play) as well as assists and overall play and we won’t know if he’s another Kaba or Niasse until he’s had some game time.

IMO from what I’ve seen so far he leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm digging a hole to put a steel post into so I can hang a 15 foot galvanised gate on it. I keep stopping because I'd rather not.
My wife keeps making me, but she's walking the dog in the paddock at the moment.:bandit:
To be honest, I should crack on as there's concrete being poured later in the week.:emoticon-0114-dull:

    Edit: oops, sorry, wrong thread.
    Updates to come cling.

It's interesting that last year nine teams conceded less than us and one team conceded the same.
In contrast the number of teams scoring less than us was 1

Definitely not. Especially when I made an error in typing. It should be that 9 teams conceded more than us. Oops!

Which ever way you cut it, goalscoring remains an issue it seems.
Now whether that's down to the strikers or the quality of chances they are presented with is a whole different debate. That said, I seem to recall quite a few "sitters" being missed last term.
I just hope we can get to December without the need for another managerial change!
All will become clear soon enough.

Our 2 central midfielders are good defensively and breaking play up. Not so good creating. Thats another reason we are better defensively than attacking.

Our defence and keeper are as much a problem as our attack.

Our threat from set pieces was embarrassing. From probably the best to definitely the worst.

Lets just survive this season and maybe next summer we can clear out more Morison crap

You have given Kaba and Robinson goals they have not scored so it`s strange you complain if I give Ugbo goals he has not scored. Do you know any striker who is available on a free or loan we can get because I don`t, I watched Ugbo and his goals, he scored 2 for Brugge against Gent and he looks very alert around a loose ball in the penalty area. If he plays 90 mins in 4 consecutive games and does not score then I will agree with you.

    Guys and Bethan

This jck is nothing more than a wind up merchant and by responding we add fuel to his fire. I have him on ignore but can still access the drivel he posts. To my regret and better judgement I reply from time to time.

Just go back through his posts and virtually every time he takes an adverse position to whatever we say. Something like Adrian Durham did (maybe still does) on Talk ****e.

The discussion on Ugbo is a case in point.

I do not believe he is a Cardiff fan but does a bit of research to come up with some true facts to establish some credentials.

I will no longer respond to him and respectfully suggest we all do the same. I know it is hard seeing he posts absolute crap and the urge to put him right can take over.

However if we can do that and no longer give him any ammunition hopefully he will go away and enjoy his time on the other board he frequently refers to.

I'm sure you will do whatever you see fit.
