Before we hired Ange I genuinely feared we’d be stupid enough to do as such.

Now though I think we’re safe, when (or if!) we sign a new CB it’ll be someone that can actually run faster than Gemma Collins at the least.

Maguire would absolutely sail into your team if you played him at CB, if you played him in Kanes place he would probably struggle.

Well not on his own no but he is a very good defender and would make a massive difference to you with a couple of other additions.
Crap at high lines though because of a lack of speed but at the basics of defending, tackling, heading, positional sense he is a big step up from what you have.

But Spurs will be trying to play on the front foot and higher up the pitch next season so Maguire wouldn’t be any good. Imo he’s not better than what Spurs have.

Spot on.

I rate Diego’s tactic though, trying to flog a dead horse in it. Gotta respect the game.

I tried telling him and Trebs about year or two ago that Utd could’ve done with Winks.

Possibly.
He obviously isn't a great modern CB but is a very good defender and would do well under any manager that had the mindset of clean sheet first and see if we can score.
Conte is a bit better than that though but is defensive minded.
