it’s quite sad. He deserved a better send off. but I am happy - I feel like we can really kick on now
But Jones Bajcetic and Elliott will play more. Plus with reduced hours for thisgo he’ll be available more to give breaks after 60 mins etc.
There's a bit of previous between the clubs though isn't there? That probably explains why they'd like to get one over on us.
Was over there talking about it last few days. Lots angry with not just us but West Ham over JWP about not offering values they want. I pointed out that’s how every club negotiates and you start low and work up and meet up in middle somewhere, I’m sure saints do it to their buys as well. A few sensible ones over there tbh and we’re in agreement and weren’t sure what all the fuss was about. Think thing is a lot of them saying what a great player he is and can be which is encouraging.
From a business point of view, makes complete sense moving henderson on. Was on big wage, reduced role and had little resale value so £13m is a nice little sum. I don’t think anyone can have a bad word to say about Jordan henderson the lfc player. Super professional, dignified and never brought controversy into himself or the club. Did so many good things outside of football and topped it off by winning every trophy possible with us including the big one. Never the star, but a vital cog in the klopp machine. His leaving in some what controversial circumstances are unfortunate but guy will always go down as an incredible lfc captain in most successful team for 30 years and with the respect of everyone at the club, players & manager. Good luck Hendo
Never was his biggest fan but he won me over eventually with his character more than his ability. Top lad and a good captain I wish him well
TBF, what we had or didn't have last season is irrelevant. It's about what we need going into this season. We should be aiming for two players for every position as a bare minimum in a very basic approach. If we're going 433 then we need a minimum of six midfielders. We have six midfielders in Macca, Zobo, Jones, Thiago, Elliott and Bajcetic. The trouble is DM isn't really covered. Bajcetic and Macca could do a job there but neither specialise there. (Not aimed at you Saint, just your posted I quoted)

It was a direct response to a post saying that we'd lost six players and the inference being that three replacements wouldn't be enough. I was just pointing out that those six (only five really, I don't count Firmino) amounted to significantly fewer minutes than you'd expect, and three replacements should cover it. If we get Lavia, we really need to move our recruitment priorities to the back line - which would be much lighter than the rest of the team.
