Hull official statement Following the departure of Nigel Pearson to Leicester City, the club is delighted to announce that Nick Barmby has agreed to take on the role of Caretaker Manager for the foreseeable future. We would like to thank Nigel Pearson, as well as his assistants Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh, for their hard work during their time at the club, and wish them all the best for the future. Having overseen training over the course of the last week, Nick's first game in charge will be this Saturday's trip to Derby County. The club would like to stress that there is no present interest in pursuing alternative managerial candidates at this time. Nick will be assisted by Stuart Watkiss as first-team coach, Seamus McDonagh as goalkeeper coach and a new addition, Darren Robinson joining us from Nottingham Forest. Nick will also be joined by a new assistant manager in the near future. We are sure that all Hull City fans will join us in wishing Nick all the very best of success in his new role. Leicester City statement Leicester City has today announced that Nigel Pearson is the Club's new first-team manager. Pearson has signed a deal which will keep him at the Club until the end of the 2013/2014 season and will be joined by assistant managers Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh for the same period of time. Shakespeare will be responsible for coaching duties, whilst Walsh will oversee recruitment. The management team will begin working with immediate effect, having joined from Hull City Football Club today. They will take training at the Club's Belvoir Drive Training Ground on Wednesday morning. Leicester City Vice-Chairman, Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn, said: "We are very pleased to have secured the services of Nigel, Craig and Steve and we are sure that they are the men to lead this Club forward. "Nigel is very well respected within the game and he and his team have the knowledge of this division and the ability to motivate the players, staff and supporters. "They achieved a great deal during their last spell at the Club, rescuing Leicester City from its lowest position and coming so close to a place in the Premier League. We are sure that this time around, with everyone's support and endeavour, they can take us one step further." During the management team's last spell with the Club, Nigel and his staff led Leicester City to the League 1 title in 2009, before reaching the 2010 Championship Play-Off Semi-Finals, where the Foxes were narrowly beaten by Cardiff City in a penalty shootout. New Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson said: "Craig, Steve and I are all extremely excited to be re-joining Leicester City, working with the players and working closely with the Board of Directors to achieve the Club's aspirations." Following his first training session with the squad on Wednesday, Nigel will be introduced to the media as the Club's new manager at a press conference at King Power Stadium. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Huge mistake to let him go in the first place. He'll help you into the play-offs (but I still think Sven would have got you there anyway). NP>Sven as some of your posters would say...lol
Nigel Pearson " The lure of coming back here was massive", "very pleased to be back", "cant wait to meet the squad", "squad has alot of quality and strength in depth", "alot of work to be done", "Hull was a difficult job but we left the team in a lot better position to what it was when we found it",
Yes, doubling his salary was a pretty big lure....... Rumours are that he fell out with our owners too.
Interesting length of contract as well. Seems like it's not **** or bust for him this term which is good. Hopefully we give him time to build a side.
He's a good manager, as long as he's given the time. Length of contract means nothing does it? How long was Sven's? I hope your owners don't get impatient. It's never good for a club.
If we don't go up in May pretty sure he will be sacked, pretty hard line but the owners want prem league now. I am now very confident that with proper money and walshies imput we will go up though.
Yep. Top's money is in safe hands with Walsh. What do you reckon to Barmby then? (Honest question BTW)
Walsh can pick some quality players from nowhere and now he has money he can buy them instead of loaning them We did pick up some idiots aswell under Nigel Astrit Ajdarevic, Aman Verma, Ryan McGivern, Robbie Neilson
