It's funny, this is meant to attract people to Saudi football

Yet Mbappe has been in France his entire career and I've never watched a French league game

It will help attract better/younger players rather than it being seen as a lucrative dumping ground for Coulibaly, Kante etc.

Probably ensures a proper TV deal too. Maybe not from the UK although for my Sky money I’d expect the odd game.

In theory if it was a normal country, sure.

These ultra well paid players are going to be in little communities where they're allowed to do as they like. Outside of their world, Saudi will remain an ultra Conservative religious fundamentalist state.

You're gonna set up an entire youth system and inject hundreds of young, wealthy, entitled foreign teens into your country? Who will want to party and live life?

By the sum of averages, some of them will even be gay <yikes><yikes>

I'm very interested to see how any of this works, as they're essentially forcing tourism into a nation that is absolutely no designed for tourism at all.

This.
These footballers are not going to experience anything like the true Saudi Arabia.
They will come back full of beans, singing the countries praises, because all they will have experienced is their millionaire gated community, in which money can buy you everything and anything you want.
SA is a Ultra conservative, religious fundamentalist state, unless you are loaded, then all the conservatism goes out the window and you can get anything you want.
Living a pious, moral life, is for the peasants. Thats how they do.

I assume the sportswashing is part of a wider plan to make it into more of a Dubai type of place for tourism. Not saying it’s right.

Lol good luck.

The difference between Saudi, Dubai and Qatar is the latter have a population of mostly foreign nationals.

Foreign nationals who couldn't give a **** about religion

Saudi Arabia is 90% Arab, raised in a fundamentalist religious monarchy.

Now you say "lol, **** it all, let the tourists in!"

There's a reason people predict Saudi Arabia wil explode in 10 years

sounds like bliss

might look into it

The only downside for you though spurly is that weed is highly illegal there.
You get a flogging and up to 5 years in prison, just for being caught in possession.
If you get caught for intent to supply its the death penalty.

You need a few million quid to live amongst the other rich europeans in a gated community, then you'd be okay.

I went in 98

the food was banging

Saudis come across arrogant in general …the poor were nice and humble and anyone with a car and a few wives thought he was Boss man

the foreign Arabs living there were good folk too as were the traditional Bedouin people

Aye, our currency takes you a long way out there.
Not as much as it used to though.
Still its around 25-30 SAR for a good meal out, and that comes to about a fiver in GBP.
