Wages is a huge issue for football clubs and I'm glad we have a strict structure as it means we don't over stretch and keeps us on course to be sustainable.

The new ffp rules when they land will bite a lot of clubs hard and we appear to be ahead of the game on that respect.

It's also why we have to challenge the club to improve the off the field side as well as they have improved the on the field side as every extra penny made contributes massively.

He isn't linked. Plus, clubs in Belgium have been quoted 7m euros for him.

I don't think so, it's just an article based on one person's opinion on who we should sign. It's why I'm not a fan of sites like "Football League World" or "We Love the 72", just mostly clickbait opinion piece articles with very little substance.

For all we know we might have looked at him but what they want is way out of our league, or his demands are out of our league, or even that his agent has lined up a move somewhere. We might have enquired but be messed around. Let's face it, that Hungarian striker back in January basically used us to lever a better deal out of the club he wanted to sign for in Germany.

Articles like this get people's attention, but have little substance or repeat previous gossip. If it was the Athletic I'd take it a bit more seriously.

Ah yeah rings a bell. Pretty sure the only place that 'link' came from was Rubberfist on his U39 alter-ego account on RTG mind.

I hate Murdoch for all kinds of reasons. He is bad for the world, but the whole TV package has basically trapped football clubs and commercialised to such a sickening level. Players wages should come down and if a maximum wage is a ‘restraint of trade’ then trade rules also need to change.

He did, there's a thread on there about him, genuine interest he said. That was about 10 days ago.

Amazes me how people still question KLD and the club's approach. This club has never been so well run yet some still want/expect big money signings

I'd say they were in the minority now, i would say some people have concerns after the January business, which i don't think were helped by some interviews after the window closed and the feeling of "what if"

It looks like the club are addressing the squad short comings and the optimism of pre season is in full swing

Edit. Can I add that on the field the club is incredibly well run, off the field needs massive improvement

You mention January, but what was the club supposed to do? We had Stewart and Simms - a front line that was the envy of most in the division. Not easy to replace with limitless time and unlimited budget, never mind the worst month of the year to recruit and a season ending injury 24 hours before the window closed. We were left short, but I blame bad luck rather than bad performance by the recruitment team

To be fair, Simms went back on Jan 1st which left plenty of time. Stewarts injury was unfortunate timing wise, but we suffered because Everton didn't sign anyone so Simms didn't come back.

We have learned and moved on from there though, I don't think for one minute we will be left short again

I think the error was not getting the third last summer. Speakman justified only having two so it was deliberate but it seemed obvious that if one player is injured there’s no sub and we didn’t have any emerging youth players to step up. We’ll find out if the lesson is learned soon enough but Mowbray has stated his position so the pressure’s on.

the club cannot go down the path of signing players 'just in case xxx decides to leave'...hanging onto LND right now is costing us, we need strikers who want and can play, signing another one will require transfer/signing on fee/compensation/agents fees plus however much for wages at the same time paying for LND, then if he leaves in january the club will have little to no hope of getting a decent replacement in, as someone said earlier, he needs to sign it or get the feck out as no time for sentiment.

right now i do not particularly care as long as the club knows in plenty of time to make adjustments if needed, none of us want another half a season or even full season p1ssing about without strikers.

Yeah, wouldn't disagree. If there is blame to attach (if we must attach blame) then it's definitely the lack of 3rd striker in the summer. The Jan window is a **** show and I dispute 28 days is "plenty of time" to replace Simms
