Think there’s a difference in that prob had discussions with agent but also got the ok from the club that would be willing to enter negotiations. I know the days of it being against the rules of talking to players without club consent are almost thing of the past, but think clubs and agents will have generally had a chat to see if willing to enter into talks if personal terms can be agreed otherwise makes it pointless

Vastly different from rashford and Bruno apparently turning Saudi offers down, when they didn’t actually have a choice as United hadn’t agreed to any kind of sale and likely weren’t going to
The approaches from Saudi were exactly the same, from what we read. The biggest difference, I can see, is that they wanted to stay where they are so it was easy to turn it down. Our two don't want to stay.

So as we stand, ox, Keita, Milner gone, Hendo, Fabinho and Thiago probably going. That is one hell of a clear out in one go. The first three were finished anyway and the last three were definitely past their peak but now we need at least two quality midfielders and probably a defender or two if Trent moves to midfield. Expectations will have to be guarded. I don’t think any of expected this

I expected it ... but to happen over the next 2-3 windows. For it to happen in 1 window will be fantastic because it means we can start the transition process a lot sooner. Expect short term pain as there is a lot of disruption but it's for the best in the long run.

it’s ridiculous. To lose your entire midfield and their back up in one window is plain stupid - should have been happening over the last 2 years.

I agree - this should have been happening previously but as we know, Klopp was too loyal. Now, the Saudi's have forced our hand which is good because we're getting well above market value for 2 players who are past it.

This is an exciting window - let's just hope that we can bring in 2-3 players before the end of the window.

Tbf, we should have been replacing most of those going by now anyway - certainly last season we should have had a plan B for Tchemenei, and another midfielder lined up.

I wasn't going to reply to this because I've made my feelings know on the matter and don't need to keep reiterating but the bolded bit got my attention. This is where your statement draws a false equivalence. The West may well have done worse - past tense - Saudi is doing it currently. Now the second false equivalence is - how many football teams did the governments of the Western countries who were doing these things that were "far worse" own and run?

I think your not judging others is a good trait to have but sometimes it's absolutely vital that we judge others and act on it or we end up with allowing all kinds of toxicity to exist right in our midst.

This isn't a personal attack on you btw. I'm engaging because it's you and I know you like open, honest conversation.
No problem at all mate

I truly believe that we are doing stuff currently- and lots of it
But I try to keep politics out of this place

I can’t change anything

its not our job imho to go into another country and state our beliefs are the correct ones

we see a lot that other cultures do as barbaric
A lot of other cultures see what happens on the streets in the darkest areas in the western world and say they don’t have that problem.

I consider myself blessed to be able to sit here and air my views freely

my own personal viewpoint has always been to try to be happy by not hurting anyone else and that’s it really

I wish I shared your optimism.
Losing Hendo, Fab, Milner, AOC and Keita (regardless of how little the latter two played) and replacing with only 2 so far with 3 weeks to go is lunacy. Especially considering we needed at least two more this time last year.
Right now we need at least 2 quality midfielders or a quality midfielder and starting RB (depending on where TAA lines up) but I really fear that our transfer dealings are done and we will make so as is.

Something will be said about the right players not available at the right price or some such.

Will be delighted to be proven wrong
