one wasn't right then but it was the way of the world then and one isn't right now but is the way of the world now.

If enlgand wasn't out plundering then other europeans would have been. a simple case of who go there first stole all the resources. that doesn't make that right.

Suadis are in effect using money to hostile take oever western influences and control them. just cost something else was done in the past doesn't make what they are doing now right. Nobody esle could really affrd the money being talked about but they are basically putting state money in the scale of billions down to do these things.

109million just to an old english crock. 20 teams x 25 players plus al lthe coaching and staff needed? the bill will be in the 10s of billions per year.

partly, yes. But even without the bad PR that does require a fix, the Saudi’s have to quickly shift from an oil based economy (in what will soon be a carbon neutral world economy) to something else; akin to what Dubai have done with a parcel of sand but on a much bigger scale. Their plans are off the scale tbh and will be an interesting watch over the next 20 or 30 years, because to achieve what they want to achieve, they will have to become more liberal on a mountain of topics.

No they won't.

This is the issue. They are needed for now, but only for now. The same as china got a bit of business to gorw with but are no longer so desired.

The second the Americans no longer need saudi they will be dropped and so will iraq etc. it'll then all be fought over.

The reality of these tiny little pimple oil states is that they are tolerated by the bigger ones due to what went on in the 1990s. Dubai and Uea and where can be rolled over in a morning but any of these big countries and frankly the saudies are 90% nothing and a 36million population.

The second the oil dries up they are ripe to get rolled over.

Think about it. you can add saudi, iraq, uae, dubat, qatar up and not get the population of iran.

My prediction is the oil will be long gone before the religious extremism is. They are all likely to end up on fire both politically and ecologically

Its going to be largely unliveable in these zones. they are just an oil field. when thats no longer desired then boom that will be that. spend or no spend.

you simply can't buy enough influence to stop that.

The Emirates are already well under way of doing it. It’s not even a debate anymore.

And, if the oil ‘dries up’ (it won’t, demand will), then why would they be fought over? These states are already well under way to diversify their economies, whether we like it or not.

it doesn't really matter though. no amount of other revenues from the minor types of things they are buying up will make up for the amount of loss.

Things get fought over. It can be political, it can be religious. It won't matter. The saudis are a house of cards.

It could be a revolution form within. It could be a grand empire being set up. it could be a caliphate.

We really need to distinguish between the type of revenues that being a major player in oil brings 36million people and a genuine GDP. Theres nothing valuable enough on the plant bar rare earth elements that can take that place. They won't be making it off what they have nor what footballers they've bought.

I don’t get your point. Last time I looked, The U.K. is the fifth largest economy in the world - what natural resources do we have? We are a service based economy, built on the finance sector. are you suggesting that nobody else can do that? If so, you’re wrong.

the Emirates have done and continue to do exactly that. Dubai is a major, high value tourist destination - it was sand 30 years ago. The football/sports thing is a precursor to what is to come and is child’s play financially to them.

We are no the 5th largest economy in the world any more, we are 6th.

first there's a far higher, denser population than any of the states mentioned above by me. second theres a diversity of business done locally by skilled folk and frankly access to said markets despite our wish to ruin ourselves. third we are not a monarchy that actually dominates that private trade. Our monarchy is more of a lecherous land owner than a true dictator. this means the weath generation in the economy is in private hands and is driven on.

the saudis have none of these and can't really procure any of it.

India and china are far far far more likely to be the trading threats than suadi arabia once they are no longer needed for oil.

5th or 6th, 7th, 8th the point is the same.

I’m not suggesting that SA will be as big an economy as ours. it doesn’t need to be. I am suggesting that it can diversify - which it can….and will. Any argument suggesting otherwise is absurd, frankly.

He is absolutely right about the repuation and 100% right about england. He is tossing that aside for 109million quid.

The family bit is the same, I do feel thats an old man talking. These families live in air con enclaves and don't go out. There's a period of time where they can live in two places. Go for a period, go home for the rest.

thier season runs on the same timeframe as europe. August to may. So really thats also right i nthe middle of english school. They just have to decide what goes on.

They wont be on thier own anyway as they will be locked in a gated community with the other foreigners in that city and there will be 25 other mercenary families in there.

You can go out though, even though you'll live in a walled community you can travel about outside of it.
