Singer and actress Jane Birkin has died at the age of 76, French media has reported.

The performer, whose legacy features being the name behind the iconic Hermés Birkin handbag, was found dead by her carer at her home in France, BFMTV reported. Her cause of death remains unknown at this time.

She certainly was. Like Julie Christie and a few more she had a certain look which encapsulated the times.
 
George Alagiah, one of the BBC's longest-serving and most respected journalists, has died at 67, nine years after being diagnosed with cancer.

He was a fixture on British TV news for more than three decades, presenting the BBC News at Six for the past 20 years.

Before that, he was an award-winning foreign correspondent, reporting from countries ranging from Rwanda to Iraq.

He was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in 2014 and revealed in October 2022 that it had spread further.
 
Trevor Francis...aged 69.
Made his name at Birmingham City, before he became the first £1m footballer in the UK with his transfer to Nottm Forest. Also played for Man City, Sampdoria and QPR.
Managed QPR, Sheff Wed, Birmingham and Palace for a while.
RIP.
