Half way through “Bird Box Barcelona”on Netflix. Not too often that a follow up film is better than the original but this one does that and more. Without the American way of doing things, which can sometimes seem a bit false, this film is both fascinating and dark. If you liked the original, even with its crap ending, you’ll love this Good watch and more atmospheric in the original Spanish dialogue
Just started watching Black Mirror from series 1 and don’t know if I’m missing something in its brilliance…or it’s an overstated load of old pretentious crap that just makes stupid people feel clever. Thought the “pig shagging” episode was rubbish and didn’t get it at all. The “15 million merits” episode was ok, but didn’t really tell me anything that I didn’t know and was a bit dreary But The “memory rewind” episode was the best of all, and I could see what it was trying to say (some things best not known etc etc) Is it worth sticking with it or is it a load of old drivel ?
Think I got as far as you Staines. I guess I found it … intriguing, different and watchable. Something didn’t click with me in the way everyone has talked about. But thought that maybe it was one of those series where each individual storyline got better the more they explored it. Been meaning to go back and see but hadn’t quite got there.
My thoughts exactly. Glad I’m not the only one to feel this way. I’m gonna carry on with series two and hope it clicks at sometime
Not watched it, but my kids really rated it early on, say it’s gone downhill since he got US money to make these. Charlie Brooker is a very clever man, I just can’t be bothered with this kind of stuff.
Hmmmm…..just watched Series 2 episode called “White Bear”….interesting and disturbing. Still undecided on the whole thing but definitely getting better
**** "White Bear"....you should watch "Cocaine Bear"....looks hilarious Based on a true story apparently!
I saw Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part I at the weekend. Bloody good flick. Then watched the film.
I was forced to waste 2.5 hours of my life on that too at the weekend with my 15 year old nephew. Likely it will appeal to anyone who enjoys the Fast & Furious type franchise stuff. I thought it was a steaming heap of brain dead crap. It was all I expected.
Now on to series 3, after the Netflix takeover, and I must say they are getting quite good and worth watching. Stick with it
Think they've got some sort of exhibition on to go with the release - perfect for a tech geek like me
Just finished Dave Grohls book/biography “The Storyteller” tracking his years from first seeing/hearing/experiencing punk music through his first steps into music and the many events and experiences throughout his life to March 2020. I’m no avid reader but consumed the book in a couple of weeks. His journey is remarkable, his love of music is deep and you can feel it. His humour is throughout and laugh out loud many times. His humble personality and family values abound throughout the book. His many stories of crossing paths with other musicians and artists a great read. You also get his real deep friendship with Kurt and Taylor (especially as this was written before his passing). It came to me highly recommended and lent to read. Completely recommend it, well worth anyone’s time as a read (and I’m not particularly a Foo Fighters fan).
