Thiago is a crock. But nah, FSG have said they're done spending and that's that I fear. We'll say we're saving our money for Mbappe or something, then **** ourselves and pull out of the running if he becomes available and the price goes over £60m.

Where did they say they were done spending?

I have mixed feelings on this.

£12 mil is not as enticing as £20mil. It's probably a fair price at this stage of his career... But we don't have to sell him so would expect more than market value; he's still got use on the bench.

£12 mil won't go far to finding a replacement.

It's not £12m! That's just the transfer fee. It's actually worth around £26.5m to the club...

£140,000 per week with two years left on his contract = £14.56m saved in wages plus the £12m fee.

It's about player contract packages, not the transfer fee.

Like Milk i don't think £12m helps much in buying a replacement and i'm finding this complete sell off of the experienced midfielders very worrying as i feel the first quarter of the season will just be a series of getting the system ironed out .

We're not going to replace him for £140k per week though. Unless kids are taking his role (which I'm ok with) we're not going to get a new player in on much less than that.

Irrelevant to the point. The deal is worth more than £12m to the club

This deal is in no way linked to any other future deal

Lavia for £35m is the latest isn’t it? If he’s the one coming in, it’s a bold move by Klopp….I still think that there’s a couple of surprises in the making. No way are we done with signings (yet!)

Can’t see saints selling for that unless it’s 35m plus lots of attainable add ons up towards 50-55 like mac deal.

Good.

tear down his Jersey form the dressing room on the tour and spit on it

money grubbing traitor :)

He’s not a traitor. He’s given over 10 years to this club. He’s been given an opportunity to financially secure himself for life as well as finish out his career. I disagree with him going to saudi to do it but I’m not going to rag him for it. He’s made his choice, the club agreed to it, I wish him and his family well. He’s a premier league and champions league winning captain for this club. I’ll show him the respect for achieving that.

Is he on 140k? Thought reports of around 200k?

Personally don’t get the hate on the players moving to Saudi. Each individual choice, doesn’t affect me them moving over so good luck to them.

I’m sure throughout the last 20/30 years you could find clubs/owners who have dodgy pasts and so on with players moving.

These players are moving to play football. Anything else is behind them so why give them hate. They’re there to do a job, not to be a politician.

We will be getting £40m for Fabinho. What do you think we could do with £52m?

It's not irrelevant because we're only "saving his wages" if we don't sign anyone else. If that's the plan, fair enough... But

If we do sign someone to replace him we're still going to be paying wages (and most likely more than Hendo was making).

But Even if we replace Hendo with someone who will start more than Hendo would have... Someone's still going to be getting wages for sitting on the bench who wouldn't have so its not £140kpw saved.

You're still looking at it as transfer fees and wages mate. It's club budget. Hendo going frees up committed funds to spend elsewhere; hence me saying "it's worth X to the club". I never said stick it in a ISA and live off the interest <laugh>

If we've got funds already (probably), this (£32m+) gets added to it to widen our options

Any purchase is a package deal too; fee, wages and agent fees.
