surprised they didn't do the scoring as Test 4 ODI 3 20/20 2 which better represents the "value" of the formats and is more likely to have a result at the end and it just so happens we would be winning
The one test for me makes this feel very much second fiddle to mens and all fitted in around the new schedule. They really should have had 2 of each format
in womens cricket any test is an outlier in fact i think us v the convicts is probably it for womens tests .
Ashes team is in. England: Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, Moeen Ali, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, Stuart Broad, James Anderson. robinson was apparently fit to play but goes out to bring anderson in. alli "named" at 3. surely they have some sense here and play it by age of ball and who has been bowled out before sending alli out. I mean if its a first over wicket (can happen) surely you send root out. if the ball is 20 overs in or something great then fire away.
the women lost by 3 runs last night as well so lose the ashes. same story as the men. fielding was poor. dropped the aussies big scorer 3 times.
Still got chance to level scores if they win the last game, but australia will retain the ashes as current holders. Wouldn’t say they lost it as never had it to be fair.
Well, as home side really I'd go as far as to say they have not lost it yet then. its one final game next week
interesting. I think weather could scupper this so England are backing conditions and ability to take 20 wickets here. aussies will not declare. I was wondering if they would bat first to declare and force a quicker game but I assume conditions suggest bowling day 1
warner will be relieved. he's gone to woakes bowling not broad They seem to be bowling in short spells. woakes and wood are off again and broad and anderson back on.
235/5. into the last of the batting with the all rounders. england have stopped anyone getting a big score but everyone has got a score except for kawaja. no anderson impact so far.
I'm wondering if this might be a series too far for Anderson. He's been tidy but there is almost no wicket threat from him. Time comes to us all
i think it is very telling that the new ball is coming and Anderson is slogging away with the old on as the holding pattern bowler Wood and broad to mop up the tial?
I said to my wife just before this series began that I can see him retiring from Test cricket . I mean it would be brilliant to see him walking off into the sunset with a series victory behind him , and there is a slight possibility that may happen . But if they lose or draw this series , what else does he have to prove !
Jimmy gets Cummins first ball of the day. Woakes follows up shortly after but from a no ball Since put on another 18 runs and eaten up another 30 mins all of which could be crucial given the classic northern weather
hmmm. 317 plays 30/1 aussies seem to have a better clue to that england. getting the ball up full and swinging induces the edge. Duckett gone and alli straight in. Now the risk v reward play is in effect. Can alli get say 30 to make this worth while.
