Yes I'm not saying the entire situation will be like Ashley that would be an absurd claim. Cheers mate
He had a good season, we need him for squad depth - early CL games, league and fa cup games and as sub etc. No reason to sell him.
If it meant signing better players though? It's the same principle behind selling max... if I was looking at selling you might get a few quid for it might be him you see. Anderson is already a better player.
@Project Zebra to answer your earlier question about a £25m fee, it would mean we could by 2 x Harvey Barnes for 1 x ASM. Or, 1 x Harvey Barnes and 2 x others at £20-25m.
That argument could also be made for Bruno, Isak and Tonali tbf, ie they were expensive signings but worth every penny...getting in there before the other clubs did, rather than doing a Chelsea and signing a player for twice the price another club did one year ago just because they've had one good season in the Prem.
I find Longstaff a solid and dependable player, he probably won't make the starting line up these days, but he's a very solid back up. We aren't in a position yet where our second team is all top class players, we need players like Longstaff for the squad. Local guy who had a good season and took his play up another level to force himself into the team, he's earn his right to stay this year.
I agree I just think they need better plsyers and he's probably one of a few they could find a club daft enough to buy.
