it wasn't an old account. It was my main account but they closed it and sent me a cheque. No idea if it affected my credit score as it’s nothing something i really check up on.

In other news, russia have struck ukranian grain. I suspect cost of goods will begin to increase again if it continues

The takeaway has been outed as a front. We know.

You were doing well, then missed the point. A bank could not kick out a customer for race or sexuality. Why should they be moral arbiters on political leaning? It will close done free speech because politicians, journalists and the like will be frightened to lose vital banking facilities if they speak out.
Or they’ll be offered an account with NatWest.

Farage says he might be forced to leave the UK because of the bank decision. He also said that he would leave if Brexit was a disaster, so he should have gone long ago anyway.

Why not just **** off, Nige?

It doesn't have to be right wing. It could be mad Corbynistas like you. Farage is getting cross party support on this issue, But, hey, you continue to ignore the issues and fester in your prejudices.

I don’t care much for Corbyn. Admittedly I thought he’d be less of a useless, corrupt spiv than Johnson but I underestimated quite how useless and corrupt he’d turn out to be.

All these people coming out batting for a man who failed in seven elections. It’s a minor miracle he’s held on to his massive barely earned wealth and properties at all for him and his German passport children.

But don't you see, there's a bigger issue here than individual politicians? The banks cost taxpayers like you and me a fortune in bail-out monies after 2008. Now they think they can sit in moral judgment, and mess our lives about by removing bank accounts and ****ing up our credit ratings.

Not messing my life about or yours. How is Sir Nige paying his bills at the moment?

I agree. **** the banks.

There are 10 million people in this country who cant get bank accounts. I believe there should be a not-for-profit National Bank, fully owned by the state, that provides high-street banking facilities for everyone. Farage could have one of those accounts.

The irony that some on the left are singing the virtues and actions of mega ****s like the bosses of Coutts and Co isn’t lost on me.
Not meaning you btw, Strolls

I thought the whole point of Metro Bank was they’d give one to just about anyone. Probably not Farage still.

I agree everyone needs a bank account, it's an essential part of modern living. A National Bank for those that can't get an account from a commercial bank is a possibility. Benefits could be paid through it.

As a separate matter, politicians and other PEP's, or indeed anyone, should not have their accounts with commercial banks closed without good and clear reason.

I know I shouldn't be surprised by the postings of those of a left leaning persuasion about Farage, but rather than looking at him as a political mouthpiece, surely what Coutts have done to him is in fact an attack on his civil liberties, something I thought that those on the left were all for protecting......

Coutts produced a 44 page dossier on him, mentioned Russia more than 140 times and Brexit more than 200 times therein..... they also discussed this with a friendly BBC journalist who then tweeted about it..... isn't that a breach of data protection laws and privacy..... would anyone on here like their finances disclosed by their bank like that?

I'm not a fan of Farage in any shape or form but in this instance I believe that he has the right to highlight what banks are doing to ordinary citizens and his TV and radio shows give him the platform to do it....

Coutts are in a hole and should stop digging.....

Spot on. The left are defending the indefensible and that's because Brexit was mentioned in the dossier. This makes them right because they can't be wrong on Brexit and many other issues.

Yep. Someone has different views to you, and they must be cancelled.
You and Boremywood are so wide of the mark on this or maybe you're just having your prejudices exposed.
