Went on holiday there as a boy. Stayed in Shanklin I think. It's a nice little island. It's got the Needles, Carisbrooke castle and somewhere Queen Victoria spent time at (?). Might all have changed since 1970s though!
As it’s only across the Solent for me, we only recently went there for a few days. We did an AirBNB cracking place in Shanklin. Easy drive to The Needles, Osbourne House nice day out. Had a lovely evening in an Italian restaurant Pavarottis in Shanklin, can’t recommend it high enough, food was outstanding. If you do go, spend a day in Portsmouth and go to the naval dockyard, that’s a good outing with the Mary Rose, HMS Victory. Plus if you have kids, there is Action Stations, climbing walls, shooting practice etc.
