It's being reported now that we're very close to finalising the signing of Ethan Ampadu (CB) from Chelsea. The encouraging thing about this transfer is that we weren't heavily linked with him until now so perhaps that's a sign that plenty has been going on behind the scenes that we haven't heard about.

Downside, been on loan 3 times, each time the team he was on loan to were relegated. Bloody Jonah

Ampadu played cb for the blunts, DM for Venezia, largely CB for Spezia.

Do we see him as a DM or CB or is his flexibility what attracts? Still only 22... and yet very experienced (in relegation)

Ampadu part of the Chelsea academy project and make cash on loaning out. Quite like this kid and remember him from his time at the blunts. Can also play in the middle. More money than the Liverpool player Phillips but probably a much better player. It also shows we are moving away from Struijk, Cooper era

Just having a read around, apparently he prefers the DM position, the flexibility would be an asset.
Obviously opinions are, he'll be great at this level to he's absolute ****. Love how folk make these opinions n someone they've probably only seen play 2 or 3 times at most

It must be true then because here comes Phil Hay hours after everyone else, even a couple of us on here beat Smythy to it but Hay is really a cOuple of hours behind as usual

Do we think our due dilligence in the contracts department will have counted (and restricted at the time) how many players have automatically triggered loan release clauses in their contracts?
If we can only do 7 and more have it built into a contract then we’ll be in breach of that contract, Orta really thought this one through

Anyone who like their stats, they don't read too bad for a young lad

They do read well. Some are a reflection of a side that has a lot of defending to do, but even so…

He has a lot of top uk/European league and international experience for someone so young. On the face if it, a useful signing if it happens.

I think in reality you’d have to let them go and take a fine from FIFA. But hey, all supposition .

I suspect we'll find out depending on who we sign next. We're now linked with Glen Kamara. If that is true then I think it means either Ampadu has been signed as a CB or Adams is going.
