Liverpool are set to make an offer for Fluminense midfielder Andre ‘in the coming days’ as Fabinho closes in on a move to Al-Ittihad, according to reports

Given how we generally will be aware and have interest in players for a number of years before we go for them, can’t imagine we suddenly became interested in Amrabat after 4 good games at the WC.

Massively strikes of agent talk. Had a good World Cup and agent sees this as a chance to get his client one big move or a better contract while his stocks at his highest. 26 now so never going to get another chance.

Or we'd been tracking him four years and those for games have highlighted him to others (including fans)

Well we only need kids for most of the europa so yeah I'd trent doesn't move there then a 6 is needed.

there's no balance there.

but then before fabinho arrived there was no balance either. it was really once he arrived thst we started to fly. I hope klopp learned the lesson as he was dead against a defensive player in the media before that.

really good point on Fabinho. He was such a huge signing for us that really helped transformed us.

Totally agree. He had a really good WC, just when we were desperate for a midfielder of that ilk too, and was supposedly available for £35-40m back in January. The fact we never went for him them - apart from FSGs parsimony excluding Gakpo, who was always in their plans but they thought they'd lose him to United - is explained by the fact that he looks decent, but nothing special, in the Italian league. He really does seem to have the engine we need though, and if he's available for the same money as Lavia I'd have to say he's the least of a risk between the two. But as you say, 26 - isn't that older than Fab when we got him, and that brole more than ever seems to take it out of the legs?

I'm sure I remember you suggesting he lacked the necessary locomotory appendages.

yes and in the end (it took 3 years) but the lack thereof seriously started to show.

perhaps my view was merely a portent of his final state as a treacle runner.

in the end the view came to pass a lot quicker than it ought to have for a player of his age so I must have been onto something.

however that was not the point about balance. klopp was playing Henderson there and actually said he didn't need a no 6 at one point. the midfield at that point was unbalanced and it did show at the time.
