I've got their financial report, and while they've done well with Grealish, aside, it's not as rosy as all that. I'll have a read back through it tomorrow when I'm travelling. All correct about the takeover there being earlier and off the field progression being ahead of us, but it's nothing massive. Our main problem right now is getting rid of the dead wood. Hopefully they're just waiting till there's been enough Saudi exports from our rivals that we can turn £100m for the dregs and nobody can say ****. Diaby - I'd have liked him here (less than Szob TBH) but if he goes to Villa, fair enough. Doesn't seem like we've been in for him again. Very good point about him being smaller than the average Howe player TBF.
They've won more including the European Cup...think its 25 to 12 in terms of major trophies. They're a far bigger club and only nufc fans would try to suggest otherwise.
Historically they have won more trophies, but to suggest that players in this generation (players younger than the vast majority of us here), when considering a transfer will view them as bigger than Newcastle, is nonsense.
Sounds like we want elite players only. Within a limited budget. On low wages. Who aren’t wanted by any other clubs.
Tonali will be on 200k a week. But that’s all we had to spend by the looks of it. I said this months ago and some didn’t listen but unless we get in more commercial deals we can’t spend. We have increased some commercial revenue. But I reckon the PL are blocking some deals. FFP is a mechanism to restrict teams growing and maintain the status quo. Villa don’t seem to be impacted by FFP.
Or PIF have taken their money elsewhere and are spunking it all in saudi. Quite how they can buy the top 4 teams and it be anything other than manipulated is beyond me?
I can’t fathom how Tonali can be our budget when Chelsea’s rationale on FFP was spreading cost of deals via amortisation. We have guaranteed income well in excsss of what we had when spending on Botman, Bruno and Isak. It doesn’t add up at all.
Exactly so Tonali will have cost about £15-20m based on amortisation so we have £60m ish left I could be wrong (occasionally am )
We have spent 300m in 18 months. Our salary %age is at 94% and probably more now. We have sold no players. Our commercial revenue is up but not by an awful lot. I read that because of Ashley we could spend around 300m. Interestingly Staveley said £250m spends. Didn’t she @Project Zebra!
