I have a lot of respect for all Henderson has done for us over the years, but if we get £20 million for him at his age with one year of contract left.. ... Out transfer team should be put in the hall of fame.
Hendo doesn’t have any real transfer value so getting £10m would be great business. £40m for fab is just insane
I could never understand it. I know football has been globalised now, but the clubs grew out of their community and to be anywhere else just feels completely wrong. Still, my view of the US has always been that anything and everything comes second to money.
If Henderson does leave a) we definitely would need at least another Midfielder b) can't afford to lose Thiago and Fabinho in the same window as Hendo, Milner, Ox and Keita
As said, we have to trust JH to re-invest, but we already have another £300m or so wiggle room under FFP to go out and get Lavia, Thurham, Colwill and another player if we really wanted even without selling Hendo, Fab, and Thiago.
A lot of their teams (especially the ones that move) are younger than the ones in Britain and not so entrenched in the local culture. Big, old established teams don't move very often. The New York Yankees are never going to move to Cleveland. But I think, why it happens at all though is down to how most Americans view sports. Sure, there are diehard American sports team fans... But a lot of people who go to games, go to socialize not to support the team necessarily. That's doubly-so for small local teams in sports like Baseball (which let's face it, is almost as boring as cricket). Minor league baseball teams move almost nonstop every few years... And the fans don't really care... They'l go to the baseball game the same reason some people go to the pub... To drink a beer and socialize for a few hours. The fans don't care if the team changes every few years. They may be miffed in the interim between one team leaving and the next one arriving... But they don't have a lifelong connection. I would say the majority of American sports attendees are at the game to socialize. That goes all the way to the top.
why? the transfer team would be the equivalent of standing there minding your business and a billionaire drives by chucking cash out the window of their limo (which is powered on the blood of babies) and it hits you in the face. Hall of fame. behave.
just think naby lad. if you'd tried a leg. just a little.... you could be going to Saudi Arabia for 500k a week on your free. jog on. oh wait, better not you might get injured.
I always say the same thing. there's always another player. absolutely always but Henderson for me is now persona non grata. fabinho will be the same.
