By the way the other forum were miles before anyone on Goustos, Ugbo and Meitie and are adamant the deal is done for Ramsey. Nice were trying to negotiate payingup his contract towards the end of last season so why would they take up an option and have to pay the same £400,000 a week?
jck - for a start, Cardiff didn't give him the chance and "allow" him to go to Arsenal at all. Ridsdale was desperate for the £5M to fund HMRC debt - we had no choice but to accept Wenger's offer. He was nowhere near on £400K/week at Nice - that was his contract wage deal when he signed for Juve. Guesstimates were around £80K/week at Nice but he also allegedly got a decent punch in the wallet signing on fee as a free agent. Also it wasn't Nice who wanted to pay up his contract - he played 34 games for them last season. That was Juventus before they loaned him out to Rangers. He wasn't in contention there due to injury issues and costing them a fortune in the same way Bale took advantage of his contract at RM - but why not? I'm totally with you on the Saudi issue although I think Nin was just having a laugh about that. If he took the shilling from Bin Salman having said all he has about "family and home" he'd surpass Bale in the rat stakes. The only reason he wont be playing for City this season would be some sort of contractual hold that Nice still have over him.
https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/c...-rovers-playmaker-if-ambitious-pursuit-fails/ Let's just get both I reckon.... we can rotate the pair of them then!! C'mon VT, you know it makes sense...
Despite Ramsey playing more minutes last season than for many years, he hasn't got a full championship season in him. And he'll be away on Wales duty. Cover definitely needed. So, yeah, lets rotate them. Dack or ramsey next to wintle or ralls, colwil just in front, robinson or Meite up front, O'Dowda and ugbo out wide. Chuck tanner and a couple youngsters in there and it has a very different look and feel to the side. Not getting carried away just yet, but things could be shaping up. IF, we can make a few more decent signings.
More on the same...................... https://the72.co.uk/2023/07/13/fabr...evelation-as-sensational-return-edges-closer/
I wonder what the deal with Nice is? And this will help with his wages for a few weeks. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66184836
The actual point being made was the other forum had this deal done weeks ago, he could get £400,000 a week in Saudi if he wanted. Cardiff will not be paying £80,000 a week and Nice will not pay a penny of his wages once he signs for us.
Evidently the first point is wrong. No ink on paper means deal not done. He's on the record as saying his next move is about the family. He's made his money, so good on him if he turns down the oil dollars. There is still a lack of clarity about the 'extension deal' as I said up thread. If the extension was unilateral and Nice invoked it, he's a Nice player. In that case they either loan him to us or let him leave on a free (we can't pay a fee for anyone). Nice stated he'd be in pre-season with them next week. Far from clear.
I say the deal is done and will get wages to match our price cap. Now all we have to do is wait and see who is right, me or the rest of this forum.
