Turned out the ‘protest’ was mostly some drunken louts not from the area given a platform by GB News…
I don't think it's a case of bringing in people from the third world Goldie - their origins aren't important. What is important is their age and gender - they seem to be all young and all male, couple this with having little money and lots of time on their hands adds up to a problem. We have about 400 refugees in the town where I live (town population about 20,000) mostly from Afghanistan, Syria and Somalia and nearly all male and bored. If we had 400 bored young Scousers on our doorstep we may have an even bigger problem. We should be taking whole families.
I wouldn't wish 400 Scousers on anyone, but with immigrants from the Third World, there are different cultures, Cologne. These don't evaporate on a short dinghy journey across the Channel. Women are often treated like sexual objects, chattels in the family with arranged marriages. Then all the honour stuff. Some will integrate, yes, whole families. But the dinghies coming in only contain young men. I don't see how you can make them work, if they haven't been approved for citizenship. They are in a state of limbo, and should be until their case is heard. If this takes longer for DNA, age checks etc to know whom we're letting in, so be it.
You seem to have missed the Trump one the other day, Ubes. I'd have thought you'd have been all over another example of a senile US President talking gibberish.
So the Met police...says there is no criminal case to answer. And the presenters wife has issued a statement saying he is an in patient in hospital currently. Another triumph for the glorious sun
I think the city with the largest Afghan population in Europe is Hamburg, where I lived for 19 years before moving to my present abode. There are about 40,000 there who were born in Afghanistan (the second largest ethnic goup after Turkish) - in all that time I never heard about any stabbings committed by them. I knew many of them personally and had a lot of students from there - one in particular who was very surprised that we could take the moral high ground on themes like women's rights (and condemnation of them being treated as sex objects) in the same city as the Reeperbahn and the infamous Herbertstrasse !
In Fawlty Towers, whenever Basil Fawlty is caught bang to rights, he throws himself to the ground and fakes a heart-attack. Hasn't Huw Edwards just thrown a Basil?
You can be cruel Goldie. Edwards on his Wikipedia page has recounted his mental health issues. No he is not playing a Basil. According to the Met police he has not committed a crime. His career is over. His family are shocked and traumatised. A young boy is also traumatised by what his estranged parents have done. Did Edwards drive the young person to drugs...we will see but I doubt it. Murdoch and the sun have sold loads of extra papers. They have attacked the bbc. We will see how much they are damaged. It is a horrible Sun induced incident. I so hate Murdock and the rancid sun
No he has had mental issues for years. Edwards has previously spoken about his mental health, telling BBC Radio Cymru in 2019 that he was "mentally in the wrong place" when he was physically "unhealthy". He also revealed in a documentary in 2021 he had bouts of depression which have left him occasionally "bedridden" since 2002.
