Quote from Barca's president, Rosell: "Bale? I don't know if we're interested, but if we were we wouldn't tell. Valued at 40M? That's too much for us."

Cheers for that Smudger, hadn't seen that.

Though if Rosell reckons it's too much, he's got no hope trying to barter with Levy at the helm, he wouldn't sell Bale's right leg for £40m! <laugh>

He's not ready! Right now he has Benny to cover his defensive duties but in Spain he'd find it difficult. He's not had to hone his defensive game with us but over there he'd have to given they'll be no-one behind him. Great going forward but in the position Barca need, he's not ready. Any big move for him is another 2-3 years away i reckon. That's if he takes sound advice, he may get greedy for fame and fortune way before then. To be honest, if Barca do come calling you cannot expect him to turn it down. They are virtually the greatest team ever. Who'd not want to play there?

if barcelona want him, they'll just whine about it until the player gets unsettled and wants to leave, like what happened with mascherano and fabregas, they're a nasty bunch of people <ok>

It's just the football food chain mate. I just wonder what the teams below us think about our transfer policies. When was the last time we made an initial offer for someone that was deemed a fair price? make a derisory bid, unsettle the player, get him for cheaps.

We made a fair bid for Andy Carroll, but Liverpool trumped us with a ludicrously OTT bid...

Did Spurs actually put in a bid for Carroll and what did they offer?

£35m was a ludicrous bid for Carroll, but I think that Liverpool are failing to get the best out of him.
It'll be interesting to see how his career develops.

Can't understand why 'Pool would pay £35m for him and yet from what I've seen, they don't utilise his strengths...
Even against us they put him on the wing at some point (WTF!?), granted they were down to 9 but surely putting a target man striker on the wing is just pure idiocy. It's like us telling Lennon to play centre back <laugh>

Fabregas was their player acrimoniously taken from them by the gooners, plus he's Spanish, Masch may aswell be Spanish. You compare those 2 to Bale, a homebird from Wales.

Welsh are weird, can't stay away from the ****hole. He was told to go on holiday by Harry once to give him a rest, H thought he was going to go abroad with mates or his misses, went home to stay with his mum. He's got time on his side before he needs to risk it abroad.

Like I've already said, the only reason Liverpool were in a position to pay £35mm was because Chavski were stupid enough to pay £50mm for The Spanish statue. That doesn't excuse their daftness, just explains what made it possible.

I remember when Bobby Smith came to Spurs from Chelsea,he was pretty rough and threw himself about a lot, but,in time,he developed into a very skilful striker. He scored one of the greatest goals seen at Wembley versus a very good Spanish national team in a 4-2 win.......
Maybe Carroll will develope the same way....or not.....
