Not sure on that one, but heard Adams was treated again as his injury hasn’t welded properly yet. Would have hoped Sinisterra was fit by now and raring to go?
I think it could be a big season for Greenwood, he is on par or better than any midfielder I saw in the Championship last season.
The article I was reading said Sinisterra won’t feature, we have no alternative to play the likes of Gray and Gyabi. Back four it’s Drameh, Cresswell, Ayling, Struijk rest are either injured, leaving or not due back. Thought it was strange as Cresswell is another not due back until Monday
Saw it reported that Farke understands the physicality needed for the championship so I’d say that rules out Bate and Shackleton (and a question mark for me over Greenwood).
Cresswell will either start tonight or be on the bench for England U21s in the final. So cant see him back on Monday or be available in Norway. On the Greenwood question does FARKE have a look at him up front, because lets face it Greenwood and Gelhardt arrived as England strikers with similar records. Greenwood from the Sunderland academy was poached by Arsenal and scored lots of goals for them but was going to be behind Nketiah so no chance to progress so chose Leeds. Greenwood and Gelhardt were in competition all through their England days so big mates and both scored lots of goals for our 23s even though they shared playing in midfield and up front in turn. Both looked a bit lightweight in the prem but?
I think he can be quite sloppy in open play but I really like his set pieces. Some of the corners he put in last season were right on the money. He could be our Ward-Prowse if he can get the open play stuff sorted. He could potentially play as one of a double pivot or as a 6 quite easily.
I think both Gelhardt and Greenwood lack the pace to really kick on up front at this level. Gelhardt could easily become a super sub but I feel Greenwood might have to turn himself in to a deep lying midfielder who is a set piece specialist. He doesn't have the range of passing to be a creative midfielder but I think he could learn to be a 4 or a 6 fairly easily if someone takes him under his wing.
Think Greenwood is too lightweight to play there, he also isn’t strong enough in the tackle and lacks the vision and passing range required. If it’s true that Adams has agreed to give us one more season he will play that role. I know this is going to sound crazy but what about us playing actual midfielders in midfield?
Fully agree but he's still young and as Gessa says he has been working all summer. If he can bulk up then his tackling becomes stronger and he doesn't shirk from the tackle. Farke plays a double pivot so he could play alongside Adams. It's not uncommon for players to adapt as they move in to men's football and if Greenwood wants to play at this level he needs to transition further back. I'm not saying he is a starter there but this will be a long season and the fringe players will need to play their part.
Just back from getting my 90 Year old dads cataracts done. He’s delighted and looking forward to being able to see Leeds this season as he wasn’t really able to last year. I’ve explained he was better off anyway
No promotion. Been there done that and bought the t shirt. Total waste of last two years. Let’s stick to the championship. It’ll be great craic
All I'm saying is we are linked to some big lads who can score goals from set pieces. Would it be worth giving up a little in open play by playing Greenwood to ensure we have a specialist set piece taker on the pitch for 90 minutes. Approximately 1 in 3 goals scored are from set pieces.
