Very interesting to see Filey Bay making his Flat bow at the age of 7 tomorrow (8.20 Roscommon). Certainly strikes me as being Eyecatching with a capital 'E'.

The 7YO son of Fame and Glory had a very good campaign, last season, over hurdles. After winning his first 2 contests, with ease, the old boy was then placed in 2 of the biggest and most competitive handicap hurdles around - namely Newbury's Betfair and then the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Those efforts saw his perch rise to 142 (a 25 lbs rise over the course of the term).

Probably not one for betting purposes (deffo not heavily at any rate) given it involves a change of code, that adage about old dogs and new tricks applies, Filey Bay had far from outstanding form in bumpers (formline -55656), I ain't exactly sure what is lurking amongst the opposition (currently numbering 15 so its a fair few as well) and you do have to wonder if, the run at Roscommon, is merely a 'prep' for a latter NH target (Galway perhaps???). But in saying that Filey Bay has over the course of the past 9 months proved himself to be a highly, highly progressive animal and if he brings this improvement to the Flat could he be the next Vauban?!? Something to ponder at any rate.

Rachel Blackmore has been booked for the ride which must be viewed as a plus.

No bookmakers prices available, at the time of writing, but I keenly await the old 'first show'.

A far from inspiring Flat bow from Filey Bay then as he trailed in 8th (albeit not beaten miles - 6 lengths). Was well supported, prior to the off, backed down to 6/5, but ultimately found little in the final furlong and a half.

If Galway is the aim will this have prepared him perfectly?!? Time, I guess, will tell...
