At least we now know why the doctors are striking, so they can get their private work done on strike days
Whilst dropping the good news there'll be no tax cuts. Must've been like a morgue at Tory HQ. Boris held better parties than that tbf
I've only briefly read the news about the payrises so I haven't seen that. Interesting concept though, trying to cut jobs whilst claiming to have a recruitment drive to fill the shortage of teachers.
you got the pay rise but the education budget hasn't altered so say they budgeted for 3% rise the other 3% needs to be found from elsewhere in the budget . Surely you are used to this tactic by now
Oh I know, we'll just stop ordering resources and equipment and dig out the blackboards and chalk. Tbf I thought some minister had said it won't come out of school budgets.
I'm not, just pointing out I'm not reading any subtext of job cuts or budgets in any statements. Quite the opposite.
I know schools where teachers pay for their own A4 paper. Funnily enough it tends to be the ones in multi-academy trusts. Another great idea.
Around 24,000 staff at British Airways will get a pay rise worth more than 13% over 18 months from September, the Unite union has said. Workers will also get a one-off payment of £1,000, but pilots and management are excluded from the deal, it said. The deal, after months of negotiations, eases the threat of disruption as demand for air travel soars. Workers are pushing for higher pay in a number of sectors as inflation continues to be high. The pace of general price rises in the UK has been persistently high. Inflation, while it has declined a little, is still running at 7.9%, well above the Bank of England's target of 2%. Unite's pay negotiations were focused on easing the effects of inflation on workers. The union said the deal also reversed pay cuts from 2020. The "sizable pay increase" came after "detailed negotiations", Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said. Well done UNITE and BA
