Good to see the retailers and banks being questioned over their greed. These huge profit-making conglomerates are being shown for price hiking and controlling prices for excessive profit. Holding back reductions and saver interest rates for their own bonuses and shareholder profits. We have been seeing 98-99% of people paying by contactless since the pandemic, increasing banks profits massively, while we see no reduction (literally zero - not even 0.01%) in fees taken on all those payments. It’s a disgrace. What we need to see now is action from whoever/whatever government is in charge to create greater competition and awareness of choice through clear comparisons of services and products. Only competition will bring fair value (and fair profit) - at the moment it is being controlled by the retailers.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess this vicar who I’ve not read about isn’t telling the full story just as Farage isn’t. Banks like all businesses will have a PR team doing that. Ultimately they want wealthy people banking with them and it’s generally confidential unless the likes of Laurence Fox choose to have a big hissy fit over Twitter.
