My gut feeling is that we're waiting on Gravenberch. If so we'll be waiting a while. as he seems to want to clarify his future at Bayern after the U21 Euros first before possibly deciding to move.

With all due respect, a few of your posts on this thread have come across like a spoilt child's demands - "I want this and I want it now!"
I'm sure you're fully aware that real life is considerably more complex than that.
As fans, we see very little of what goes on behind the scenes, rumours are probably about 5% substance and the rest is bullshit.
Drawing conclusions or making predictions based on such sketchy evidence is pointless.
What is ideal and what we get can be two very different things, with nobody really to blame.

I don't think he was ever the right player for us. Doesn't really fit how we want to play, I get what we were trying to do by buying him, we wanted a player that could flip a ball over the top or play a clever pass through a tight defence, but it just hasn't worked out.

On top of that it was a lot of money for a player who has always had injury problems and wasn't as young as we've looked for before, on a big wage too.

Maybe it is only £15m we can claw back, but its also a high wage off the bill.

The signing made sense at the time because, the way teams played against us at our peak, he was a luxury player that could pick the lock.

However, he's never been a replacement for Wijnaldum and at this point is almost obsolete in our new system.

I've never agreed with buying him, like I said above I don't think he was ever the right player for us.
And I think he is a symbol of our transfer thinking of the time, that we were all set and could afford to buy luxury players, rather than young up and comers or upgrades on what we already had.

Yes injuries haven’t helped but no surprise he was instrumental in our good runs and I’m sure if you look at his win % we’re a better team with him than without.

that's all true bit look at what modric does for real. he covers more ground still.

our team is a up and at em type of team and that's just the fact of it.

the first season thaigo was here he was tried at rcm and he couldn't cover and we were all over the pace.

if klopp was evolving his style then fair eno8gh bit we still leave gaps all over and all we need look at is fully fit thaliago last season after 2mins at the Emirates.

in fairness assists are not the only type of pass a midfielder can play.

positive forward passing is key to driving a side on and thaigo can do that but without the running all they do is send players on and leave gaps he won't cover.

if he could move like modric he'd be at Barca or a real, not us. that's the reality here.

He can do. He is actually decent at winning the ball back when he’s fit.

And he’s not there to assist. He’s there to break the lines with his passing which is what he does so often. He plays that pass through the midfield to get the opposition turned rather than knocking it sidewards to another midfielder to a full back. He’s the pass that opens up the play for the next player to create the chance.
