It's hard to see anybody winning a race outside of Max atm. They're just that good.

It's not just about the dominance for me.

There's always been mistakes in stewardship and management and controversy but it all feels so unnatural now.

Sometimes it's obviously manipulated... Other times it's complete nonsense....

Before it might have been bullshit but it felt natural.

Now it's an absolute shadow of itself as a sport.

Dominance is common in f1 but it always felt like a fair game (within reason).

Now... I'm not so sure

I don't see how they can apply retrospectively when the driver was not given a warning, or in some cases multiple warnings. It is a joke, only I assume it is not.
However, my impression is that liberty have increased the revenue.
The spectacle has gone although it had gone, when Lewis dominated. The difference being it was the days when Charlie was race director and it seemed some order was applied.

I haven't even watched it yet. We have guests over for the week, so I can't really give an opinion on the penalties.

What was the deal with those?

The FIA has issued an updated classification for the Formula 1 2023 Austrian Grand Prix.

Nearly five hours after Max Verstappen crossed the finish line to win, fresh results were announced as multiple drivers earned fresh time penalties for exceeding track limits during the race at Turns 9 and 10.

These included Lewis Hamilton, Esteban Ocon and Carlos Sainz, although the top three of Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez were unaffected by the changes.

A total of 83 lap times were deleted during the race, with a huge 1,200 instances of potential track limits breaches looked at by the FIA after the race before reaching their conclusions.

This is getting farcical now, and a totally ludicrous situation.Those stewards and liberty have killed this sport.
This is getting silly. It's time to start removing the run off areas and putting back the gravel and grass! I mean they managed just fine back in the good old days...
The revised order of finishing is too much and complex,but George has gained 2 points and moves over Lewis.
I did read somewhere that the worst offender was Ocon and had 30 seconds added to his time for track limits alone,before his 5 seconds for unsafe release.

As somebody posted earlier,F1 is a shadow of it`s former self.

Blimey... This one sounds like a proper cluster.

Why wasn't any of this dealt with in the race?
 
I see ferrari are desperate to talk this up.

second fastest. beat everyone else etc etc.

the reality is they messed up the vsc and fixated for the 2mins it took to get back round on pitting. it was far too early to do so. Saint loelst 3 places.

the reality is had perez not messed up in quali then this was a clear red bull 1-2.

Aston don't like these types of tracks by the look of it.

mclaren had a good weekend too which is good for them but who knows


it was a good race but a drs race. take that away and how many passes do we get?

I think there lies the problem- the actual race stewarding isn’t really fit for purpose when it comes to multiple offences within short time spans- they cannot process anything fast enough.

Shambolic stuff again.

or they could just forget track limits and stuck a few kerbs in on turn 10 to put the drivers off going to the absolute limit there and sliding 1 inch off.

racing is racing, do we care about that inch?
 
Bring back gravel traps everywhere then you won't get track limits, not rocket science. 95 % of the current grid be ****ed if that did happen though.
 
It's been reported that they had to look at 1200 possible incidents and that Race Control felt that the stewards wouldn't have time during the race to view all the incident! This works out at them looking at almost every driver on every lap. Surely they should have just 2 dedicated stewards watching the 2 corners!
For Race Control to say they didn't refer the track limits to the stewards during the race is complete bu11 as they would have launched an investigation straight after the race not wait for Aston to pay to submit their protest!

As for gravel traps, well if the track was just used for F1 then fine but it's also used for bikes and they don't get on with gravel. There must be some compromise available though, 1 that causes F1 drivers to lose time and 2 doesn't cause an accident for the bikes.

With today's technology, an electronic device that clocks when the car has 4 wheels over would not be impossible, and even ******s the engine in response so the penalty is immediate. It is all possible. (Obviously based on a count of 5).

I found out from someone else about the fact that Bikes race on F1 tracks as well , no idea what the solution is though .
 
verdtappen ruins a front wing then blames the car for understeer.

I Hope he's got a damaged suspension here and ends up beached
