Look. Heres the things we have to hope work out 1. We have 5 forwards plus elliott. Jota, Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo, Salah and of course the little guy. We can hope that after a season at the club or plus a full preseason now for injured ones that this 5 will get goals for us. They are all individually good players and most in good shape and a good age to deliver what we need. 2. We have Alisson in goal. Instantly that help us out as normal. 3. We've tried this trent stuff and somewhere along the line this helps us out in temrs of creation. 4. We might hope that konate can stay fit all season. Its huge for us that he has not got a litany of minor injuries and stuff that stops him performing consistently. But will it be before preseason start, or a panic buy after our targets all go elsewhere? Will it be a recognised first team player, or a promising youth for the future?
My guess is based on the players we are being linked to who are all 22-25ish age range with varying degrees of first team experience - one experienced midfielder in before preseason, then one experienced defender and one 'project' versatile player some time after. How's that?
it’s clever in a way not to get involved with the last minute stuff. We haven’t had a mention on a deadline day now for years and years, clubs that play that game and fail to get targets over the line end up with a very angry fan base all at the same time. We just get drip fed the disappointment throughout the window, then play the ‘right player only’ card and go to bed the week before the window closes

I've never thought if Andy Carol as a panic buy. Yes he was a flop, but I don't think we had a clue what to do with him. If I'm remembering correctly he tore our defence apart only a few months before we signed him.
