I’ve just come back from France, and have definitely put on a couple of kg while there, but we noticed and commented on the relative rarity of seeing heavily overweight people, especially young people, there. Remarkable given the rich (and fantastic) food, wine etc, and the fact that France is the last bastion of the proper, sit down lunch, including a glass of wine, or at least Lyon is. No eating a prepackaged sandwich at a desk. Civilisation. Nice one Turkish, keep it going.
I'm sure you're correct about their approach to food and moderate alcohol. Sadly, however, they are twice as likely to be smokers as a UK resident and that's a factor too.
I reckon eating fresh, non processed food must be part of it, even if it comes smothered in delicious butter or cream based sauce. Certainly is more smoking around, though I was at my heaviest, 12kg up on where I am now, when I smoked cigarettes. Just weighed myself and remarkably I haven’t put any weight on. We did walk a lot I suppose.
Cheers it’s hard work cause all the nice tasting stuff is currently bad for you, but my incentive is I wanna see my grandkids grow up
Great incentive and part of mine too. Another part of my motivation is to not be a fat tub of crippled lard for my kids. Why risk that on folk you love?! Do the best you can with healthy diet and exercise. Genes important too.
