My Nap of the whole Royal Meeting is in the 5pm Jackie Oh Think she is way better than a handicapper....currently 11-2
If I'm honest I just can't bet Ryan Moore, but little big bear tomorrow should be 1/2. Surely a class above these although he won G2 sandy lanes, after bradsell's win, this must be a penalty kick. Just over evens, it's my recovery bet tomorrow
Royal Ascot 14,30 Sarakana 50/1 e/w bet365 four places, 40/1 others 15,40 Haunted Dream 22/1 e/w PP and betfair five places, 18/1 sky six places 17,00 Clounmacon 12/1 e/w Lads, Coral and betfair six places, 11/1 sky eight places 18,10 Thunder Moor 22/1 e/w bet365, Lads and Coral six places Market Rasen 13,35 Jimvale 9/1 e/w four places
Not sure on my bets today, not feeling particularly inspired! May just chuck the 3 Frankel runners in an each way accumulator seeing as he’s got a 50% each-way strike rate so far this week: 12 runners 3 winners 3 placed 1540 Aimeric 1735 Arrest 1810 Frankness
The Norfolk Stakes was the perfect illustration of why two year old races at this meeting should just be watched: virtually no collateral form to go on, a cavalry charge across the track with the field splitting into groups and the pace impacted by the draw. The two favourites lost the race at the gate. Very disappointed with Al Asifah, another bubble burst; but that is racing. The drying ground has made the April/May easy ground form totally worthless and punters are getting fleeced. Friday Ascot analysis: None of my cliff horses in the handicaps and a juvenile race to avoid. That narrows it down quickly plus another odds-on shot to leave to mugs chasing their losses in the Coronation (although I hope Tahiyra wins). No point in bothering with King Of Steel in the King Edward VII trying to frank the suspicious looking Derby form; it could end up odds on in a weak renewal but this is a graveyard for horses seeking Epsom consolation – and this horse flopped on a quick turnaround as a two year old. Will Little Big Bear prove to be 10lb better than anything else in the Commonwealth Cup? I will not be betting on it – he had an advantageous draw last time. If one of the fillies, such as Lezoo, beats him I will not be surprised. This meeting already looks a betting write off so I could be stopping at four losers from four and switching to the other meetings. The problem is that Friday’s other meetings all appear to be Class 5 and 6 rubbish and even the HQ card on Saturday is so poor that I cannot believe there will be anyone there but the owners and jockeys. With stupidity of planning like that this sport is doomed to extinction, egged on by Animal Rights nutters. When are they getting in Dave from Nuneaton to promote it?
I'm usually 'not sure' on my picks either, PNkt, except on one rare occasion (this RA on Wednesday) where I thought the chance of the supplemented filly was truly exceptional. Very unusual example though! Today, I am hoping that Queen For You, after looking a bit 'green' at times in previous efforts, is progressing well. Am therefore optimistic for a good run from her in the Group-1 Coronation Stakes for Fillies over the mile on the round course today (16:20).
State's Evidence is fancied as being potentially smart. Runs this evening in Delightful Down Royal at 7.45. 8/1 currently. Few in here with a smattering of alright form but the head of the market looks wrong to me and this race could be open for a newcomer to win, so let us hope it is the Ger Lyon's runner. Enjoy your day folks
You sound really fed-up, QuarterMoonII. Let's see, firstly why don't you pop over to your favourite Wetherspoons and have a Ploughman's Lunch, or something similar. Afterwhich, have a go at juggling the dice at the friendly craps table, if they have one? Always good for anyone feeling a bit 'down'. No craps table? Hmm, must try to think of something else. Cheer-up!
About time Balding had a result with one of his 2yos. So a small EW interest in Gushing Gold, who was totally unfancied on her debut and ran as green as grass. But a furlong out things clicked and I'm hoping she'll do it for 6 furlongs today.
Yankee for me today Little big bear Jackie o Macsud to place Tahiyra And in an acca Good luck everyone
Can't agree with this being a betting write-off. Yesterday I had my best betting day of the season. But I do disagree with the stupid planning. I can't believe that trainers aren't criticising all these Band C&D maidens. Where do you get your horse's debut run these days? It's subsidising mediocrity.
I did a lot of work around the restricted maiden/novice races when they were first launched. Fact is that the majority of horses fall into Band C or Band D based on their sale price or sire median price. looking back on the old figures I’ve got from when they were first launched, 30% of horses fell into Band D and 18% into Band C. Band B was 17% and Band A 14.5% with the remainder priced out of the bands which have an upper limit of £80k. BHA acknowledged they didn’t put enough Band A races on last year (think it was something like 10 across the whole year) so they’ve put more on this year.
Wonderful result for Julie Camacho and the victory of Shaquille. Her Dad, Maurice, was a straight talking man and good trainer who didn't get the horses he deserved. Julie has been more successful. A question: is she a granddaughter of the great Sam Hall?
RM just never does it for me, when will I learn. Saying that, how much improvement has shaquille shown? Wow
Thanks Janabelle. I was a great Sam Hall fan, especially at Ayr where he could run a Rocking Horse and it would win. He trained at Spigot Lodge and when he retired I expected his daughter Sally to take over. She didn't, it was Maurice and I was told he was perhaps Sam's son-in-law.
