Like me, I think Harry would rather start Sandra than either of them. Both are not PL standard, so no further debate necessary really.
One of Harry's famous foot in mouth moments was when he said that his Wife Sandra could have scored when (Deofe?) missed a sitter. Maybe he'll select her instead of VDV......
Torres is worse because of the players around him and he cost more. Mind you if Bent is an England quality striker then I am a Chinaman.
Ah, I remember it now, I just thought it was a misspelling of Sandro, but it's all coming back to me now!
Ade and Defoe to start, with Pav coming off the bench - probably the best use for all three, given Pav's habit of being a match-winner as a substitute, a spectator when he starts.
To be honest the way Pav has been playing I'd put Kane on the bench to get more experience and you never know if he comes on they won't know a thing a bout him and he could work some magic.
At home to Villa, I would go 442 with Ade and JD, I don't see too much possibility of being over-run by their MF. Away at West Brom, no, Sandro to make 5 in MF, Ade up front on his own. We don't play Villa till Monday night, so there's extra days for him if its only slight as has been reported since.
Why do people still insist a) that GDS hasn't been given a chance and that b) he's quality?! Where do they get this from? Because a) He's had a total of 26 appearances for us now and b) he's never looked all that good. I was as optimistic about him as anyone when he first arrived and in the preseason friendlies after he first came I thought he looked really good. There's still a tiny flickering of optimism for him in my mind but basically he's done virtually nothing when he's had the chances. He loses possession far too easily and offers very little penetration. I remember people saying that he had an excellent World Cup! Someone said it once and then in some people's eyes it became truth. But he was basically played very average, got no assists and no goals as far as I recall. I watched Mexico and he was, at best, nothing special. If VDV doesn't start it'll be Defoe v Villa. I'd be amazed if Harry selects Krancjar ahead of him. Maaaybe start with Sandro and push Modric up? That's an awful lot more likely that GDS.
I'm pretty sure he's never started more than three matches in a row: he is still quite young and I think he needs time to get used to the premiership style of play. If he just makes a few random appearances we will never see how good he is. A couple of seasons back, 606 posters were describing Bale as clueless in a similar situation. He might well not be up to it but he hasn't had the chances some others have to prove differently.
If 606 posters were saying Bale was clueless then they must have not seen him play - simple as that. Bale was on fire the moment he joined us - scoring against Man Utd (?) and Arsenal before getting injured a couple of months into the season. I think that, no matter how they come, 20-odd games is enough to tell if a player has anything about them. And GDS has shown precious little. I can think of lots of players who have had to make do with little, bitty appearances and yet still their quality has shown through.
When I first read it I thought it said "I can think of lots of players who have had to make do with "bitty"! I had visions of mums in the dressing at HT! ...I preferred a hot cup of sweet tea myself!
I did say I can't see it happening, but the reason I'd like to see GDS is because I think it would be fun to see him playing with the first team. As to what he's done, it's mostly been to start for Mexico, who had a long unbeaten run till they got the lead, then lost against Brazil. But if you're asking me, would I actually start him now, well, no. As most people have said, I'd bring in Sandro against the stronger teams/away, and Defoe against weaker teams/at home. But I'd rotate in Kranjcar more as well. I've always liked how Spurs play with Kranjcar. Is the latest news we have VDV's tweet, implying he may only be out a week or two, but it's hard to say?
