Tbh I'd hang on to him as a back up player for the CL squad, 1 year left on contract, so it makes sense. Although £10m *is* a ridiculously high price for a second rate player with one year left on his contract who can't make the first team, so there's a decent argument to snap up the money too. If only Fraser, Hendrick and Hayden could get stupid bids too...
If he goes, surely it will be because we have strengened our CB options further, and if so then great. Can't imagine the offer being accepted otherwise.
Surprised haven’t been any links with Zaha. Can offer him CL football for at least 1 season, available on a free. Seems like he’d slot in well in one of the wide roles for you and is a massive improvement on both Almiron and Gordon.
Palace have apparently offered him £200k a week, and we won't go that high. We may be able to get him with a big signing on fee and a 2 year contract on less. Would definitely welcome him here.
I'd be happy to keep Lascelles as back up, but £10m is a decent price for him at this stage. Hopefully we'll improve that position and so getting cash for him would help. Zaha is an interesting one. Still a good player, especially on a free transfer. But I sense he'd want too much money and I wonder whether he fits the characteristics Howe has been looking for.
His experience would be very useful for the CL, and a good character to have in the dressing room like Trippier. Firs the characteristics? He's skillful, has extremely high fitness levels and is a great player, might be 30, but has a definite good 2 seasons or more still there.
I meant characterstics as in his persona, not his football ability. I get the sense he would be more demanding and would want to be the 'star'. But I'm only basing it on what I've seen & read over the years, I don't know the guy.
Loads of media outlets quoting exact transfer budgets etc. Do folk think that when the club set their budgets they call the press to let them know first? Or that budgets are flexible if the right players become available?
I love watching the two clowns on Sky Sports. Always in the studio and yet they've always "just got off the phone to <insert player's name> agent and he told me that a deal has been agreed with <insert club name>...". Hardly any of their 'breaking news' reveals ever come true. Only the ones they talk about that have already been doing the rounds in the press and are virtually done and dusted. Yet they think we should look at them like some amazing gurus with true insider knowledge.
No one has a clue apart from a select few people inside the club, the journo's or anyone else pretending they know are just attention seekers.
Well that would be good, a bit ****e last season, but all of Spurs were, looked awesome before that https://www.caughtoffside.com/2023/...vOcJsRcK2epcGrGLAJlQeyim_VawoqljiBzqX2u_YVqdY
Was great his 1st season, if we could get that version of Kulusevski then that would be a fantastic signing
