Man U fan saying good luck to a Liverpool signing. What the **** has the game become. If we sign Maddison I expect Spurly to pray to Allah for holy retribution.
I have never blamed a player for who they have signed for, agents push that for their own cut of the deal. Some players get lucky with a club and contract beyond their talent, others get held back because the agent saw a payday and pushed them into a big name move. Not too sure about Maddison, has good talent but seems to believe his own press too much. Have a bad feeling he will think a big move will mean he has made it and will stop trying. Seen it too many times at our place too.
I fancy newcastle will pay it tbh..... we had this with isak apparently newcastle baulked at the price then a few weeks later done. Newcastle have repeatedly said they have no money and can't afford a slice of toast and then signed one or two decent players at a higher price than suggested. I think the player will want champions league.
Nah ... Maddison is the kind of kid that would be desperate to win in a kick about with his mates ... wherever he goes the fans will love him for that attitude and, of course, the fact that he is a real baller ...
Maddison’s miles better than Gordon though. Similar to us with Richarlison, you got your fingers burnt paying for such a mediocre player and you’re now in a situation of where you might feel you need to play him but realistically you probably wouldn’t want too. If Maddison joins you I’m sure he’ll make your XI, he’s a very, very good player, just a bit fragile with perhaps an ego issue too but relegation might have humbled him a bit. Personally I hope we get him, think he’d be ideal as one of Ange’s attacking number 8s if we’re going to be set up similar to his Celtic side, though I make you lot favourites for him.
If we did sign Maddison he would be in the 11 of course. But, honestly, I do think Gordon has potential, he clearly has ability on the ball whenever I see him play and I don't think it's right just dropping him and saying "oh that failed." Very Spurs attitude to a signing that. We are looking at 50m+ for Maddison and have about 4 positions that need filling. New CB, New LB, New LW, new RW. CM isn't really the area I'm concerned about and we are possibly looking at spending a big chunk of change on it.
Do you not think that Spurs priority will be defence and keeper before spending big money on anyone creative (unless Kane goes) even though they badly need a creative midfielder nearly as much as some defender and goalkeeper.
It’s a more a case of recognising when a team overpays for an average (at best) player and thinks they need to persist with them rather than looking, it’s a common thing around the league these days with ourselves being near the top of that list. Yet Maddison is as close to a sure fire thing of getting around 15-20 goal contributions a season so long as he remains fit, especially in a good team. Gordon has shown nothing in his career to date that he can match that sort of output nor generally be enough of a threat in games. Fair enough if you have positions of higher priority to address but I was just going against the notion that Gordon would need to take priority over Maddison if he joined you.
I think you’ve half answered the question bro. We still need a creative mid even if a keeper and CB are of bigger priority. It’ll be an even bigger priority if Kane does go as well, as that’s goals and creativity in one go gone.
Yeah need all three. I guess what I mean is that I can’t see Spurs spending £50million on one position when they need so many players in. If Kane goes then I’ll be worried about going down next season and I’m not even joking
Indeed ... Maddison will create plenty of chances for others ... he'll pull the strings and conduct the orchestra ... the bonus is that he is more than capable of weighing in with a double figure goals tally himself ...
All depends how much Levy wants to back Ange. If we assume Raya and Maddison as two targets, that’s about a £90m spend, add in a good CB for probably another £40m or so and £130m-ish shouldn’t be beyond our spending limits, we spent around that last summer for Conte, plus if we’re able to sell about 10+ players to bring in a small bit of dough that should help. Yeah I’m trying not to think too much about Kane going at the moment. Will be nightmare if/ when it happens, so much **** to sort with him still here, let alone without him.
For his none existent price tag, all they need to worry about is wages and a sign on fee, it's not a bad deal. And Villa are pushing for Europe, not battling off relegation, not to mention they have tons of money.
so were we ... Gifted technically but you wouldn't want him next to you in the trenches... Will always remember his FA Cup winner ... but he treated us shabbily over the last 18 months of his contract ...
