I have said for a long time now and stick to it, Eddie Howe doesn't decide who comes to Newcastle United, his job is to manage the side; the vast board structure we have set up will be deciding what players come alongside the scouting network. That's why it's worked so far.

Isn't it also the very reason Howe was hired? It was repeated constantly by himself and others, that Howe shone in interviews by emphasising he did not want signings to keep Newcastle up, he wanted to work with the current players.

It's also worked cos Howe has been given great players, Keegan didn't have any say but if he'd got decent players he'd have been fine.

In the same way that if Howe had been lumped with Xisco and Nacho Gonzales, he'd have been long since gone.
