I’d take this lad on a deal which involved appearances. Seems to be another ASM. The Mummy 2.
That's the big worry with him. There are two decent left backs on freebies this summer I think - Raphael Guerreiro and Grimaldo... I'm surprised we're not all over one of those. Either look like they would be a strong addition and it would keep more money back for other signings.

I guess if we get Tierney then they must have been reassured regarding his fitness. If we can keep him fit and he regained his previous performance levels (or even exceeded them - a reasonable expectation with Howe) then he would be an excellent signing.

Once they've bought szoboslzai and Osimhen people will be happy with mctomminay and Tierney
I'd be happy with Tierney anyway if it was guaranteed his injury history would stay historical.

McTom... Howe can probably work some kind of miracle with him. Even so, the money could probably be spent better elsewhere.

Those two left backs are very attacking and defensively frail though

Grimaldo is a high quality LB who had an asking price of over £40 million before his contract ran down. Always seemed decent defensively when I've seen him too, though admittedly that hasn't been too often. He is short so you could say defensively weak in the air... But then so is Trippier. And you are correct - he's excellent going forwards and takes a wicked free kick. Guerreiro I've not really seen much, but heard he is a decent player. Possibly not a great first choice LB, though he has played there a lot. Reading more it sounds like he may be better in central midfield. Again though, very highly regarded and could be an excellent option as back up LB and CM on a free.

Not knocking either on a free but both defensively poor. Grimaldi would, by far, be the better of the two. Not much better than Targett in my opinion
