The quality of the sides coming down is far stronger than what has gone up and the sides going down are far weaker than what has come up.
The is as hard as I can remember in the championship but I hope Nige can put a side to do us proud this season.
We need another 4 quality signings in top of the two he has in his pocket.
They won’t be the same teams as the ones that played in the Prem. Most of Leicester team will be sold and majority of Leeds and Southamptons will be as well.

Not sure Leicester will be, 7 out of contract players, and several others who wanted to leave in Jan but weren't allowed, so will go now. Leicester's PP will only cover the interest on their loans, they are in a very parlous financial state for next season, even if they bring in £80m in player sales. There is a very detailed article on the BBC site about it. Wouldn't be too surprised if they struggle next season.

the sides coming down, look intimidating, but there living on name and reputation, lets see what there squads look like in 2 months when some off the big names have gone,i can only see one of them coming back up, and i dont think it will be leeds, but hey lets wait and see,

Can’t see that they’ll be that strong for the reasons already given by the other posters. I can’t see the teams coming down are going to be that strong, obviously the P/P helps, but that’s the same every year. I think both Leeds and Leics will have to rebuild which may or may not work. Plus we’re in a much stronger position now than we’ve been for a while.

I agree with RR
Aside from the obvious teams vying for at least the top 6, of which there are about 10 genuine contenders, we plus Birmingham, Swansea and Stoke will all have ambitions
And newly promoted clubs on a roll like Plymouth and Ipswich will also feel they have a good chance
For me Sheffield Wednesday will be favourites to go back down

I remember how difficult we found it when we came up. The gap between the championship and L1 was big then and has got bigger imo. It’ll be interesting to see how the promoted teams manage.

It's all about staying up that first season, as that allows you to have a baseline to manage finances and get better players in to be competitive the second season, and thereafter. It's hard though, we saw it when SC got us promoted, it's why the likes of Dwight Gayle etc. wouldn't come to us, we had the £9m fee, and his wages, but we didn't have the Championship credentials to lure such players, that takes time to establish at this level.

The clubs coming down will lose players no doubt.
Nevertheless their budgets will dwarf clubs like ours.
Big budgets, 9 times out of 10, usually mean success and its the same in every league.
Or is someone telling me Newcastle's qualification for the Champions League has nothing to do with money.

THEY SPENT ABOUT £150m allowing for about £50m sales so bought in about£200m of players .. [ likely to be more as some were " undisclosed" so guesstimates!

I honestly believe the three coming down Leeds-Southampton-Leicester are way way better than Burnley-Sheff Utd-Luton even with players leaving.

The three gone down Wigan-Reading-Blackpool are far weaker than those coming up in Ipswich-Plymouth-Sheff Wed

Anybody the argues they are not - you need to go and see the shrink in the funny farm

Leave him to it, he’s getting in his excuses for not progressing this year. Even though no one is expecting us to tare up the league anyway.
But we all know he will be putting up polls saying we should change managers when we lose two on the bounce.

will have a far better idea when the signings arrive.’At the minute I would say we will do well to finish where we are this season.
Really does require the 4/5 signings on top of the two coming in.

NP has cleared the decks, and has everyone pulling together, why would we not finish better than last season, I’m hopeful. Yes we need some additions, but I’m confident we’ll get some in with Tinns in charge of recruitment, look what he’s done with the academy over the last few years. Cheer up RR

For some teams like Rotherham, Wigan, Peterborough, Wycombe yes - those teams went straight back down because they don't have the strength and depth to their squads. However, look at Coventry, Luton, Sunderland, Milwall etc - they came up from L1 and solidified straight away - Luton even did one better...!

A few years back Forest, Leicester and Southampton were all in L1 - Forest in particular struggled to escape from League 1, but once they did they all adjusted quickly.
